    Kimer62,

2010-2011 was BAC's year to be the government's punching bag. They already had their turn.

  • New York drops effort to win damages from BofA over Merrill [View news story]
True, bac is still cheap on many metrics…however the 'used to be $50/share' idea is off because they have two times as many shares issued now…really 25 is the new 50 (adjust the share count chart below to the 10 year chart to get a clear picture).

Still though, the company is becoming much more efficient and could easily go above their prior market cap highs.

  • Bank Of America: Range Bound, Stuck And Risk Laden... Avoid It [View article]
well, it's up over 35% ytd right...so it obviously hasn't been dead money this year. Even the example you made in the article about if one started a position "at the end of July of this year," is such a specific timeframe, because if they invested at the beginning of July it was still under $13.00, an over $2 difference from the price now (which since you've stated in prior articles that you bought around $5 and sold around $10, means that not even including the gain today you left another 40% of your initial investment on the table since July). Today's 50 cent gain would have been 10% of your initial investment at $5 in one day.

The company over the last few years has sold non-core assets, cut down debt, met the standards of the last couple stress tests and is staring at a slowly improving economy. That's why investing in BAC under bv is a good idea, the price is cheaper metrically so there is a lot to gain as things get better (hence their share price gaining when settlements have been announced in the last 2 years, because it's another issue of the table)

Once they're well over BV and you write an article about how BAC is now the new Goldman and is finally a good risk-reward investment, I'll be sure to hit the sell-all button...

  • Danger Zone: Momentum Investors And The Financial Sector [View article]
I have to agree...obviously the large banks are changing their business models to meet new regulatory requirements...but if you believe from an investor's perspective that value investing will be the norm going forward (as stated in the article), investing in large banks is the place to be right now. Many like BAC and C are still trading way below book value even after a large recovery in their share price.

  • Why Has Antares Pharma Fallen So Rapidly? [View article]
    StockMatusow,

Based on their last conference call, the company gave every indication that they were comfortable with their cash position.

Also, if they're confident an approval is coming in a few weeks, why would they do a secondary offering now? It would be a milestone for the company that should increase their share price. That would then give them an opportunity to make more money from an offering (which I really don't think is coming anytime soon with their cash position anyway).

The quote below seems pretty clear...I doubt they would tell institutional investors that on a conference call and then turn around and do an offering...doesn't seem like that would reward anyone, just hurt the company's credibility.

"Robert F. Apple - Chief Financial Officer, Chief Accounting Officer, Executive Vice President, Secretary and President of the Parenteral Products Division
As far as our cash, I think we have an extremely strong balance sheet. And we're well poised for an on-time launch and hopefully, building up the sales rapidly. I think our burn will go up over the next few quarters just because as we move forward and start to bring online the sales reps and so forth, obviously, you bring them on somewhat a little bit before the launch, and so you have that little bit of a tail, where you're spending more than what you're bringing in. But clearly, $75 million at this point is sufficient to get us well through the launch and well into the future. So I don't see any concerns on the cash side from our company. "

  • There Are No Good Reasons To Invest In Bank Of America Right Now [View article]
With respect, I don't understand how on this topic you can say you've been right. You said it yourself, you bought BAC at just over $5, doubled, sold (probably felt right for a couple months when it went back down to 6.50ish), and as of now left 40% on the table.

All 3 companies mentioned here have the opportunity to do well going forward. There's under 6 months of supply for new homes and existing homes, new homes will need to be built this year to increase that supply and banks will have more opportunities to lend. There are many cyclical catalysts out there like this (the auto market has a similar lack of supply compared to high demand).

All are well run companies, but the same low book value that you say is a joke and reasoning why this isn't a company to invest in, is a good reason why one SHOULD invest in BAC and not Wells...the upside potential is much greater (same with Citi). The buy back program not increasing the book value is an odd comment. Yes the BV hasn't increased, but since the buyback was announced BAC went from a share price of 12.11 to the 14.49 it is today (that would've been a huge gain for the shares you bought at just over 5, had you not sold).

Going forward all 3 companies should do well, but there is little reasoning here why shares of BAC would not do well if you think that shares of Wells and BYN are going up.
