  • Japan Is Running A Current Account Deficit. Where Is My JGB Collapse? [View article]
    Thanks for the response!

I found your blog, good info.

One more question; what are your thoughts on Kyle Bass’s analysis of Japan?

  • Japan Is Running A Current Account Deficit. Where Is My JGB Collapse? [View article]
So okay, the JGBs are not ready for an immanent collapse (agree). The question I have is, what happens at the end of their 'QE'? IF (or when) the BOJ has to remove itself from the JGB market who will step in to fill the gap? I believe there is no one willing at .64% on the 10yr with their twin deficits. Rates 'have' to go up, right? And if they do.......?

  • Don't Short The Yen [View article]
I'm on the sidelines so I HOPE you are right. Would love to re-purchase my futures at 90 USDJPY. FOMC comments come out today. Dangerous day to initiate a position. Good Luck to you (and all).

I hear what your saying about EM risks but to say, "Don't Short the Yen" seems like an odd way to express it. Maybe, tighten up your stops is more appropriate. The Yen short trade is going to pay big, eventually, and its technical setup is very bullish.

  • The Deteriorating Fiscal Situation In Japan [View article]
The ONLY saving grace to Japan's finances right now is the super low (20bp for 5yr) interest rates. I believe the BOJ can keep them down there as long as they are monetizing the debt. Eventually they will need to stop and rates will rise. That's when the end comes. Watch for a steep fall in the Yen to know the end is near.

  • Gold Likely Entering A Deflationary Spiral [View article]
Gold's not a good inflation hedge in the short term but it is over longer periods. That should be obvious

  • Gold Likely Entering A Deflationary Spiral [View article]
This would have been a good article when gold was at 1700 per oz not 1200. We are still running massive ($600B) deficits with huge unfunded liabilities to deal with. Tough decisions ahead.

Don't forget, Ben and the fed are not likely to ease up on printing if they see deflation. Deflation is very bad for a levered economy like ours. What do you think will happen to the deficit if tax receipts go down???

I think buying gold below mining costs is a good deal. Time will tell
