  • BBM Spin-Off Could Create Short Exodus [View article]
Similar to Facebook and Twitter. I've had the beta for a month or two. You, or a company company/organization can create a channel then people can subscribe and 'follow' what you're posting. You can interact via chats, etc.

  • BBM Spin-Off Could Create Short Exodus [View article]
Others are already doing many of the things BlackBerry is bringing to the party... but no one is bringing it all together like it appears BlackBerry will. No one is wearing that t-shirt yet.

Is that crazy yes or crazy no? I can't wait for it and will instantly drag 10 friends over to BBM when it hits.

  • BlackBerry: The Hits Just Keep Coming [View article]
I've heard that the whole sales force reduction was overblown, too. From BlackBerry:
“I’d like to clarify that we are moving a small number of US-focused sales roles that were based in Canada to the U.S. to be more closely aligned with our customers. As a result, approximately 60 employees have been impacted, primarily in sales."
Not quite what was stated in the WSJ as it is resulting in an increase in US sales people.

  • There Is Something Interesting Happening With BlackBerry Usage In North America [View article]
Interesting to poke around StatCounter and look at the last 3 months as they relate to BlackBerry in North America; all seem to be showing marked improvement. I also reloaded linked pages from a previous article which had shown the z10 way down the top sellers list. Both sites now show the z10 at number 4. Not too bad. Interesting days ahead.

  • Has BlackBerry Made A Mistake By Publicly Announcing An Imminent Sale? [View article]
Where does it mention an imminent sale? It only states 'exploring strategic alternatives'... which could be anything... or nothing.

  • BlackBerry: The Bear Case, The Bull Case And My Case [View article]
Last night I had a vivid dream that BlackBerry's share price went up 65% (I'm assuming shortly after the report. I didn't dream the date, unfortunately). I also dreamt that my wife had not got her additional shares yet, which is something we planned to do today (So it's a bit like a nightmare). Sooo... we found out today that our plans are thwarted by the fact that the funds for my wife's share purchase will not be available for 3 - 5 business days. That means she won't have her shares before the report. 50% of dream has come true. Now to wait for that 65% appreciation. :-) Disclosure: Long: BBRY. Short: sleep.

  • Throwing In The Towel On My BlackBerry Shares [View article]
All phones have little quirks. For example, when I work out with my z10 and I get the screen wet, it can be a little tricky logging in. If you're done with your towel, can I have it?
PS. I use FidMe for my 'loyalty' (Starbucks) cards and Stocks for... stocks.

  • BlackBerry Sales Are Sliding, But Are Still Higher Than Street Expectations [View article]
Thanks for the article. Hoping for the squeeze but also looking for one more dip before that so I can pick up a little more BBRY. Love my z10.

  • BlackBerry: Shorts Increase, Longs Wait Patiently [View article]
Picked up some more today. I'm a rookie but managed to get them at 13.50. I probably won't load up on any more ; I have enough that I won't be kicking myself in the future.

  • AT&T will begin taking orders for the BlackBerry Q10 (BBRY -0.5%) tomorrow; the device goes for a subsidized $200. BlackBerry stated last month Verizon and T-Mobile will begin selling the Q10 in June, and Sprint in "late summer." The emerging markets-focused Q5 launches in July. Opinions on U.K./Canadian Q10 sales have differed considerably (I, II). [View news story]

  • BlackBerry (BBRY -2.4%) fell once more today. A possible trigger: Kantar Worldpanel estimated BlackBerry accounted for just 0.7% of U.S. smartphone sales from February-April, in spite of AT&T and Verizon's late-March Z10 launches. The number is down from the 5.3% estimated for a year ago, and also the 0.9% estimated for January-March. SA contributor Elephant Analytics argues Kantar tends to understate high-end phone sales. [View news story]
I got involved with stocks solely to get BlackBerry shares. Whenever I see the stock tanking, I take heart in the knowledge that I can add to my position at a better price. I set a target price of 13.70 on Friday and it filled on Monday. Didn't quite get the lowest price, but I am starting to become more patient now that I've got enough that, when the stock soars, I won't feel totally left out. I know where this stock will be in the long term and that's enough for me.

  • BlackBerry (BBRY) has upped its component purchases from Taiwanese suppliers thanks to strong BB10 sales, supply chain sources tell Digitimes. The sources add Indonesian and Middle Eastern sales are healthy, and that if other emerging markets prove strong, BlackBerry is likely to ship 30M-40M smartphones in 2013 - Feb. quarter shipments totaled 6M, and were down 23% Y/Y. BBRY +1% in spite of lower NASDAQ futures. The sell-side has been arguing back and forth over BB10's early reception. [View news story]
Heck, my "links?" comment was hilarious IMHO if taken as a reply to the comment it was intended for. Now it looks oddly out of place. Anyway, long BBRY and added more today.
