  • Signs Of An Approaching Bear Market [View article]
The President will never allow the market to crash, it's one of his few accomplishments to hang in his library. It's really as simple as that.

  • Hershey Company: A Wide Moat Dividend Growth Stock To Hold Forever [View article]
Best comment so far. Picking exact entries is for traders, entering a lifetime position is for investors. After a couple of splits and continual dividend growth, I really don't see how it would matter whether you got it at the current price or a little lower.

  • Why Mattel Is A Buy At $35 [View article]
Lego does very well with their business model. Not only do they produce toys that kids like, but also toys that adults like to collect. And they manage to incorporate these toys into and from movies. They also have theme parks and specialized Lego stores. Maybe Mattel should try to implement some of these strategies into their business model.

  • Fed lowers 2014 GDP projection, but 2015 and 2016 hold [View news story]
The unemployment rate will be zero, but nobody will be working. That's the future if the Fed has its way.

  • Discover Financial Is Using A Financial Crisis Transformation To Fuel Higher Dividends [View article]
I like this company because it is essentially a bank and a credit card company combined. I am long DFS but don't expect it to shoot up overnight, it's a slow methodical grower.

  • Prospect: Portfolio Debtor Files For Bankruptcy, Meet New Century Transportation [View article]
Its a transport company, another article said they have 900 big rigs. Whether those were bought outright or have loans themselves would be important to know. Also of importance would be how many debtors besides PSEC are involved. Overall, I don't think this will affect PSEC that much, but does question the grading of the companies they give loans to.

  • BDC sector on sale [View news story]
Long PSEC, and also own some $10 NOV PSEC Puts as insurance in these uncertain times. I cashed out my protective AUG puts when PSEC went to $9.20 for a very nice gain and reinvested half of it into the NOV puts. This is a great method for those of you who are more risk averse and plan on keeping PSEC as long as the business keeps covering it's dividend.

  • Prospect Capital: Intra-Quarter Conversions From Capital Account To Income Through Wholly-Owned Holding Companies [View article]
The author was long $NICK in his March 6, 2014 article. I am interested in whether the author is still long $NICK and if so why he thought not to disclose such position above.

  • Clouds Over Omaha - Time To Sell Berkshire Hathaway [View article]
If this had happened with an important part of Berkshire such as Geico, BNSF, or Heinz, I would certainly have to reevaluate the stock. But Coke is just a dividend machine for Berkshire, reaping in over 124 million per quarter. Buffet doesn't care if KO's price appreciates, all he cares about is the cash flow from the dividends. Remember KO practically moved nowhere for 10 years (2000-2010).

  • Crisis In Ukraine: What Now For U.S. Stocks? [View article]
Putin is in a dilemma, and that is that Crimea gets its gas and electricity from mainland Ukraine. I imagine Putin would like to acquire eastern Ukraine to eliminate this obstacle and also provide an access to Crimea by road through Western Russia. The market does not like unknowns, and Putin's army creeping further westward will probably spook the markets. People thought they "knew" Hitler before WWII, Its very possible we don't know Putin really at all or the lengths he will go to to achieve his goals.

  • Judge strikes down Nebraska's approval of Keystone XL route [View news story]
As A Berkshire Hathaway shareholder, i can say that I am quite pleased with this. No Keystone equals more profits for BNSF. I wouldn't be surprised if Buffet had something to do with this although he is trying to play both sides.
