  • Volatility Outlook For September [View article]
Sounds like a good strategy. I was asked for an example of a calendar spread that i have on. This is a waiting strategy for the spike in volatility which is where the real money is made. There are many spread variants that can be used: using put or call spreads, transforming them to diagonal spreads etc

Buy Dec 20 SVXY 86 call. Sell weekly SVXY 86 calls against it (sell Sep 05 86 SVXY call now and every friday roll short out to next week, i.e. buy back short call and sell next week's call)

Or simply sell out of the money calls against your shares for taxable income. Currently you can sell a $130 call for about $.70. If you do that every month you will make about $8.40 for a yield of about 6%

i think you are all missing the point that there are too many people on the earth. the only real long term solution is population reduction. eventually it will not be voluntary.

i think you are a very good source of investment information. you can add covered calls to AGNC and add significant income. i don't think any of the others in this list have useful options. AGNC is particulaly good because of the low price volatility.

    thank you for your service

it makes a difference if you hold the security in a taxable account or an ira. ie if you hold LINE in a taxable account the distribution is return of capitol and not taxable. ECT is a royalty trust and if you hold it in a taxable account the distribution is taxable. in your article on PER you say the distrbutions are return of capitol. in the sense that it has a finite life its distribution are return of capitol but i assume the distrbutions are royalty and taxable.. my question goes to whether it is royalty or return of capitol for tax -purposes.
    thank you

it is important to know whether the partnership distributions are return of capitol or royalties or whatever as return of capitol has a deferred tax status. line, epd ,oks, ete, tnh are return of capitol. ect is royalties. Do you know the status of per, chkr, sdt ,lre ?
i find your information very helpful.

In periods of stable volatility, money can be made selling calendar spreads using SVXY while you wait for volatility spikes.
