  • iPad: Growth Engine Or Achilles' Heel? [View article]
The way Michael has been beating this market share horse it must certainly be close to death. One of these days he'll stop beating it.

    Bob,

A 1000 limit? You are hard to please. Your Prius doesn't come close to 1000.

    toobad41,
What do you mean when you write "People think that you can build a vehicle with technology. Wrong. You build it with combustible energy such as oil, gas, and coal"?

Do you mean most cars will never run on non-carbon based energy like electricity or fuel cell technology?

    Frank,
I'm curious what evidence you have that the gigafactory "is in trouble".

  • Apple: App Developers Make More Money With iOS Devices [View article]
    CMelMiller,
I think your comment covers one of the most important yet most overlooked topics concerning the smartphone market. You give an insight into what may be the biggest advantage Apple has going for it in the coming few years. If Swift becomes the standard programing language for Apple app developers (and based on the fabulous reviews it will) Apple will have seriously increased it's dominance of the app development marketplace.

  • Barron's Rated Apple As America's Most Respected Company - I Beg To Differ [View article]
Meaningless. The results of the survey are the results of the survey. The fact that a person not among the survey participants sees the world differently and would have designed the survey differently is both expected and meaningless.

  • Illumina: 9 Different Insiders Have Sold Shares This Month [View article]
The author shows us how many shares insiders sold recently but not how many shares those insiders were recently awarded through option grants. I notice all the listed sellers (with the exception of the SVP selling 192 shares) currently have at least as many options as shares recently sold. I wonder how many additional options those insiders will be getting in the coming year. The author is wise to wait for "bearish confirmation" before shorting ILMN – there is no way I'd short based on the information in this article.

    J.M.,
Very nice article. You are right on target saying the major key to price recovery is convincing investors that innovation is still strong. That said, I believe a good bit of price recovery is already in the stock price. Investors have tacked on 65% to the stock price in the last year (since June 27, 2013). That's a LOT of recovery. I'm simply suggesting the "easy" money has been made and we should not expect the next twelve months to be nearly as rewarding as the last twelve.

Apple remains by far my largest holding and I suspect 12 month returns will be excellent.

  • A Tale Of Unbridled Optimism [View article]
Split adjusted, Apple was at $78 two years ago (June 25th 2012). Add dividends paid and you see the real return. YOU may be disappointed, but most investors would be quite happy with Apple's 19.6% total return over the past 24 months. Sure beats treasuries. ;-)

Re: "But that's besides the point. Because the device won't be checking your blood sugar. Because if there was the technological capacity to do so, there would already be specialized devices for doing it, as there's a lot of demand for that. The only place this device is going to be checking blood sugar is in people's imaginations."

So, Mr. Santos believes Apple is not capable of being the first to bring a blood sugar monitoring "watch" to market. Interesting.

This Apple bull wants you to know your target prices are at least 25% too high. You should be realistic.
