Global Oil Production Peaking: What Happens Now? [View article]
The point of my article was not to shut down ideas or propose the notion that we are some how damned to a permanent depression or forced to live in the Stone Age without cheap fossil fuels. The point of the article is to spur discussion about the peak oil crisis and build awareness. In its original form I had a disclaimer about how this article was support to spur discussion and was written to be controversial, it apparently was removed. There are alternatives that look promising such as algae as a feedstock for bio diesel (for example ticker:ggrn) or some new cellulosic ethanol ideas. However, at the current time these are not viable and to blindly rely on technology to save us isn’t a smart move, especially when the consequences are as horrific as peak oil (see energy wars, strife, famine, etc.).
So to reiterate the purpose of this article is to generate discussion and attention to the problem at hand. Yet, while focusing on the problem at hand it only seems logical to make some money. Thus I invite those who believe in peak oil to invest in alternative energies such as the oil sands or buy into oil exploration companies. It will be through capitalism that we find a solution to our energy needs of tomorrow.
