  • Barbarians At The Rare Earth Mine: Molycorp Equity Holders Could Get Cooked [View article]
Excellent commentary. I have been to Mountain Pass many times in the '70s and 80's. Used to get water there for our operation on Kokoweef Peak. Very impressed with their expansions there now. Unfortunately, until Uncle Sam steps up to the plate and brings China in line in regards to Rare Earth Minerals, I see a rough road ahead. There is a 32% deposit of zinc also on Kokoweef. Has set untouched since Carbonate Zinc mine closed about 50 years ago. Now China is actively seeking to produce methane from natural gas to ship to China, manufacture plastics material there, ship back to us something that should have been made here in the first place. I am glad I live now. Our grandkids will have a Chinese President at the rate things are going now.

  • Molycorp: Why A Chinese Takeover Will Never Happen [View article]
MPC is one company that has a product the United States would be very foolish to allow control of to go any other country. A bailout would be more likely.

  • Molycorp (MCP) -9.3% premarket after yesterday's 7.5% drubbing following news of its offering. Dahlman Rose downgrades shares to Hold from Buy, as the size of the offering raises questions whether MCP's Mountain Pass project will be completed in the forecast timeframe. The firm cuts 2012 and 2013 EPS to $0.80 and $1.20, respectively, from its earlier $1.70 and $3.50. [View news story]
Why is the government so afraid to hurt anyone but it's own hard working (at least trying to) own people and companies?

  • Molycorp (MCP +6.4%) marches higher after CEO Mark Smith tells CNBC that a proposed U.S. stockpile of rare earth materials at this time would actually create a little more tension in supply. Smith says MCP is "selling every kilogram" of material it is making, and that it would take "numerous years" of contraction to start to disrupt the supply/demand picture.  [View news story]

I remember Molycorp in 1970's when they supported a store, gas station , and post office in the middle of the desert. To be able to return to full production after many years of sitting basically idle is the reason for the attention they are getting. I did not work there but did have and still have a mine nearby.
Hope the store and station come back.

  • Molycorp Stock: Too Good to Be True? [View article]
Just have a question. I am new at this game but did buy MCP in September. Turned out to be a good move so far.
Is MCP likely to split and if so when what price is reached?
    Thanks.
