Dr. Kris has two degrees from MIT because one just wasn't enough. Her life goal was to figure out the universe and having done that (at least to her satisfaction), she decided to tackle something even more difficult—the stock market.
Applying the scientific method along with an insatiably curious mind, she began trading stocks, futures, and options in order to find the holy grail to market success. She's discovered to her immense satisfaction that not only is there one way to succeed but many. Combining her love of cooking with the stock market, she's devised recipes for investment success designed to please the palate of most investors. Dr. Kris currently manages a private equity long/short portfolio and writes of her current research projects that appear on her website, StockMarketCookBook.com.
Her most exciting project is applying market timing models to Modern Portfolio Theory to not only give greater returns but at substantially lower levels of risk. (See PortfolioPreserver.com for further information.)
Evaluation of the dominant assumptions and an understanding of the dynamics of the economic engine is the basis of an approach to asset allocation that provides for both a rational determination of value and an understanding of sentiment in the form of price as a measure of the irrational nature of the operational environment, an approach that is intended at once to avoid unnecessary risk while at the same time enable gradual rebalance of assets as a means to increase net worth via optimization of appreciation and long term yields. Let's call that buy low and fly high just for fun.
I am Seeking Alpha's CEO and Editor-in-Chief. My love for the stock markets goes back to when I was a kid. Who else remembers combing through the stock quotes at the back of the business section of your local paper?
I joined Seeking Alpha in 2006 and launched Wall Street Breakfast and Market Currents, our top-of-class short-form breaking news for investors. In 2010 I became editor-in-chief and in 2015 I became CEO.
I live in Jerusalem with my wife and a bunch of exceptional kids. Most days, you'll find me making the commute from Jerusalem to Raanana. Occasionally I get to work from my home-office, from where I keep an eye on the beautiful Judean Hills.

Individual Investor in stocks as well as an investor and adviser to start-ups. Most of my background is in marketing and product management with some experience as a management consultant and US Navy intelligence officer. MBA and BA degrees from the University of Chicago.
Retired financial/compliance. Investor in precious metals. Most interested in development of a --not yet emerging market country with such an unusual hurdle to overcome (Russia-china) surrounded by non-democratic powers yet trying for democracy.
Born NYC. Jesuit educated. Avid reader. Hooked on TED.

After being an active investor on and off for almost 20 years, I left my position as a senior management and information-technology consultant in 2004 and built a career trading equities and options. I began focusing on market-neutral options strategies for generating monthly income in 2006 and currently trade a portfolio comprising long-vol, short-vol, and vol-neutral options spreads. I spent four years as Chief Analyst and Trading Strategist for the Calendar Options newsletter, which was sponsored by Condor Options (www.condoroptions.com). In addition, I publish The Volatility Trader blog and am a Seeking Alpha contributor. I hold a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania, and currently am serving as treasurer and vice president of a small non-profit organization.
Independent Investor; Independent Thinker. I worked for the DoD for a decade; now in private industry.
I trade long and short, sometimes using pair trades. However, my specialty is Option Spreads using Calls/Puts, and various other Delta strategies. I seek "targets of opportunity" by trading (usually selling) into inflated volatility, thus taking advantage of what might be mis-priced "fear."
I also use my ample free time to research investment ideas and/or short term trading opportunities, wherever they may exist. My experience includes over two decades managing eight distinct portfolios for immediate family only.
If you have a trading idea and/or question, please feel free to 'PM' me.
I am interested in finding short term trading strategies that result in a positive EV over time, as a way of generating income and personal freedom. On the other hand I enjoy betting games, and view my trading like betting poker hands. The longer term strategy would be to funnel trading profits to solid dividend payers, as a way to cash out of the casino. If you like my work, feel free to contact me.
I didn't work in anything related to my investing interests.
My trading varies:
Usually a mix short to long term, often to not often.
Usually long term but when events are about to happen it can work out.
I prefer penny story stocks but may follow for years before investing if at all.
I am a seasoned entrepreneurial adventurer and am doomed to learn something new every day. I have been advising laypeople about investments since I was in high school. I'm suspicious about the self-proclaimed "experts" in the industry, making investment decisions for myself and advising others through due diligence analysis, logical decision processes and top down allocation methodology.
I spent 40 years designing and providing the administration for pension and medical plans for jointly negotiated- labor and management trust funds as the CEO of the trusts with investment management, due diligence, policy development and oversight responsibilities.
I give back some by helping folks structure their assets to enable them to sleep better at night and develop plans for the future.
I'm a facilities maintenance mechanic in the San Francisco bay area working for a drug company. I LOVE to play golf and hope break par someday. I ride a Harley touring bike whenever possible and collect classic convertibles. Hoping to retire early to play golf 5 days a week. Never been very good at investing!
