  • Southern Company: Taking A Pass On This Quality Utility Name [View article]
I'd buy at $42 for the 5% yield point. Or more likely for me, wait until it gets to near 42, and sell some 39 or 40 puts.

  • 3 Reasons To Consider Visa For A Dividend Portfolio [View article]
I tend to go overweight on names when they are cheap, but rather than sell, I'll "rebalance" by adding more capital to other/new positions over time. V is currently the largest holding in my portfolio.

I have puts sold at $23 on GE that look like may be assigned if the market keeps acting like it did today. Look forward to the article.

  • Schlumberger: Not The Sector Stock To Own For A Rebound [View article]
    Stone Fox,

Appreciate the article. I've been contemplating investing either in SLB or HAL/BHI. Ironically, your article as made me decide on SLB. Can't beat investing in best of breed. Thanks, again.

  • Update: Mattel - Still Fun And Games? [View article]
I would be fine with a dividend freeze given the high starting yield, but am now concerned about dividend sustainability after Q4 results. I expected them to be much stronger than they were. Going forward, the comps should hopefully be a easy hurdle to overcome, which may improve sentiment in the name, but earnings will have to substantially improve at some point.

  • Could A Dividend Cut Be Looming For Mattel? [View article]
So Dave, will FCF be enough to cover the divi next year? I was really surprised with the pre earnings release today. I figured with the drop in gas prices and improving economy that MAT would have least matched Q4 '13.

  • A Better Mattel Analyst Report [View article]
Agreed, it will be interesting to see where the stock closes today as essentially all the bad news with the quarter's results were likely released today. I missed the 12% decline in the premarket this morning.

  • Update: McDonald's Down, But Certainly Not Out [View article]
Totally agree FCARONE. I sold the MAR 6 '15 puts at $85 for 0.60. I was a little early in that the stock dropped later in the afternoon and premiums went up, but would gladly buy at the 4% yield point.

  • Halliburton: 10% Decline Is A Solid Entry Point [View article]
Thanks for your viewpoint, JPM. I'm trying to decide b/n a purchase of HAL/BHI or SLB. It seems SLB is "best of breed" and has a higher dividend yield at this time, but HAL has been beaten up more.

  • Illustrating Why McDonald's Is Undervalued At Its Current Share Price [View article]
I'm looking for MCD to possibly sell off after the ER. I'll likely sell some mid 80's puts to get the yield up to 4% if it does. If it's actually in the green tomorrow, oh well, they'll be another day. Appreciate the article, Alex.

    Hi Bret,

Have your views changed at all since this article was published given the substantial pullback in crude?

  • Buy Baker Hughes On Potentially Higher Bid [View article]
Sorry didn't realize that, but I still think discount exists because the value of the deal for shareholders is pegged to HAL, which has continued to fall with the price of oil.

This seems to be what so many have missed as I've been catching up on all the HAL/BHI articles over the last 3 months. Good call Rebel.

Or that HAL will continue its fall due to the precipitous drop in oil, since BHI is now pegged to HAL.
