  • Energy Transfer Partners: Hitting Bumps in the Road, But Not in the Ditch [View article]

No...just recognizing an author whose articles I enjoy. I've been looking to get into ETP for months on a pullback. I saw his newest article after my purchase and decided to comment, as it re-affirmed my own viewpoints.

  • Apple: Why The iWatch Is A Win/Win Situation [View article]
The health monitoring aspect the the purported iWatch is often discussed, but I think the true benefit to an iWatch may be the integration with Apple's Homekit and push into home automation. I doubt most people think they need an iWatch now, but imagine if you could control your home security, HVAC, blinds, etc all with your watch, which is the device most likely to be on your person as you traverse your home. I think this may be the "wow" factor that drives adoption of the new product category.

  • Apple's Growth Story Is Over [View article]

While I'm a follower and usually appreciate your views, it seems this article was released more for page views than anything else. Apple is still growing earnings and revenues, just not as fast as before. And it's not really a zero sum game, both apple and intel/android can win at this game. I do agree with you that Win 8 will gradually attract more consumers to upgrade, and they are doing interesting things with the convertible tablet/laptops, but that doesn't automatically mean they will take market share from ipads/macs. There will be continue to be room for both. You mention the decrease of imac sales during the quarter. According to the conference call, most of that was due to the fact that the new imacs weren't even available until the end of Dec due to supply constraints. You mentioned the competition of the ipad mini with the nexus 7 and other android tablets. According the conference call, apple couldn't make enough of the things to satisfy demand. You mentioned the screen size. I agree the screen needs to be bigger to attract the high end smartphone crowd. The SIII is a nice phone. That's the reason I haven't upgraded my iphone 4 yet; the taller screen of the iphone just won't cut it. But I don't see them bringing out the larger screen until the iphone 6 comes out. Everyone continues to complain about the margins. Using the same form factor in the 5S that is likely coming out around June will allow them to increase margins as the continue to cut costs and improve manufacturing techniques. And you can't blame Cook for downplaying the screen size. He knows the 5S is going to have the same size screen and doesn't want to lose sales by having consumers wait for the iphone 6. And finally, Cook states the pipeline is chock full of exciting products, and he's all but confirmed apple TV by repeatedly refusing to discuss it. So I don't think it's exactly a "boring" company as you suggest in your closing. I usually agree with a lot you have to say, but just don't see it this time.

Long Aapl, as well as intc. Room for both!

  • Focusing On Dividends Alone Remains A Big Mistake [View article]
Again, the price doesn't immediately change with the buyback. The market must "vote" on whether the buyback is effective or not. You may or may not get the additional buyback yield you reference in the article. The dividend yield is much more reliable. I understand the basic concept, as I'm sure everyone else does too, but I have to rely on the market to get my "buyback yield," whereas I only have to rely on the company to get my dividend yield.

  • Focusing On Dividends Alone Remains A Big Mistake [View article]
I'm now detecting a little hostility in your replies....It doesn't make much sense to belittle the very audience you are trying to reach in the comment stream. You keep coming back to the point the stock declines by the amount paid out, and this is true in theory, but this often doesn't pan out in reality. Often, the stock is bid back right back up to the previous price. The market decides the market price. It's a voting machine. It doesn't always listen to financial or economic theory.

I'll take the opposite view....I think the 5C is going to be huge, selling far more units than the 5s. (Although, I'd be buying the 5S if I decide to upgrade.)
