  • Is It Wrong To Take A Position In A Stock And Then Write About It On Seeking Alpha? [View article]
    Agreed.

With adequate disclosure, no issue. Even without adequate disclosure, caveat emptor and all that.

  • Please Stop Using Ex-Cash P/E When Evaluating Apple [View article]
You cant value debt-laden companies and cash-rich companies in the same way. You need to somehow adjust for the fact that debt increases risk.

Cash-rich co could issue a dividend for the cash or, please let this be the case with Apple, use the cash for bolt-on acquisitions and thereby use it to increase earnings.

It is a valid valuation metric, for these reasons. You might not like it, but then there are plenty of other valuation techniques i dont like and therefore dont employ.

  • 2 Big Elephants Afraid Of A Mouse: What Apple Is Not Telling You About BlackBerry [View article]
That's just the thing TA. I've had old school BB's for the better part of a decade.
Recently was given a new Q10 for work. I only have one app on my phone - IG Markets trading account - and it wasnt supported. When i phoned IG they said it was because there simply was no more demand and thus they hadnt produced the app for the BB q-range.
Further, the phone is a nightmare to navigate.

All in all, will be the last BB I ever own.
We provide our guys at work with a BB, whereby we hold the contract and they pay absolutely nothing towards it, irrespective of use. No raoming charges, no personal call, nothing.
Recently, one by one, they're all refusing to use it and would rather pay for their own contracts than use the BB and free phone provided.

If that's in any way indicative of the market at largem then the end is nigh my friend.
Would love it not to be the case, but I see a problem for them.
They've alienated the old school users that just wanted a simple keypad phone. These were the only ones still sticking to BB.

I find it quite ironic that there's often not a peep when a bullish article is published, despite how flaky the research can be and the conclusions drawn.

Yet, publish a negative article on a stock, no matter how well-researched, and its suddenly market manipulation etc.
Where are the calls for market manipulation when somebody slaps a $60 target price on Micron, for example?

That's all very good and well. Except that Blackberry is no good.

And I've had a BB for close on 10 years and still do. It'll be my last.

  • Update: Seadrill Announces (Another) Voluntary Bond Conversion [View article]
Its flip-flopping and gives the impression management is a little too focussed on the share price and are being influenced.

They're just not exactly filling one with confidence.

I'm still very long the stock but agree wholeheartedly witht he third summary bullet-point.

  • SanDisk -7.1% AH due to margin drop; Micron -2.4% [View news story]
    AH trading on light volume.

AH reminds me of a bunch of gunslingers playing outside after a few beers.
Lets see what it opens at before jumping to any conclusions; this script has been played out before, many times.
