Increasing refining capacity seems more key to reducing imports of fuel than increasing production of crude oil.

  • Take Cover! Muddy Waters' Scathing Report On New Oriental Education & Technology Group (EDU) [View article]
" it may make more sense to take one look at the iceberg and dive for a life boat "

In other words " panic first and ask questions later " because Muddy Waters self-serving " research " may well cause others to panic. Tells you a lot about current reality and why retail investors are increasingly loathe to participate in obviously manipulated markets.

  • 5 Cheap Chinese Companies That Could Go Private In 2012 [View article]
    Glad to explain it.

Comparing the stock PRICE to BOOK VALUE is meaningful.

Comparing the P/E ratio to BOOK VALUE is nonsensical, just playing with numbers and has absolutely no value in analyzing the stock. If you did that just once I'd consider it a careless error but when you do it five times that's a dead giveaway analyzing stocks is not your trade.

Having said that the article does make many excellent points. It's really a shame the P/E vs BOOK VALUE analysis undermines your credibility for any experienced investor.

I can't get over how funny this article is. Maybe the author can compare your social security number with your telephone number and determine what color eyes you have or what kind of car you drive.

  • Lihua International: The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same [View article]
Chapski seems to imply the CEO would rather steal from the company than receive dividends to which he is obviously entitled as a shareholder of record. Like the rest of his article that's ridiculous.

  • Is Lihua International Being Shorted Back To China? [View article]
Everyone doesn't consider insider selling " a serious red flag ". Insiders sell for many reasons. Insider buying is seriously considered because insiders only buy if they think the stock is headed up.

  • Perfect World's Disaster Quarter Cloaks 2012 Reversal [View article]
" the company set aside over $10 million dollars for tax liabilities on eventual distribution of dividends "

That amounts to the $.22 per share. If added to the reported $.45 it comes to the $.67 which analysts expected.

Too many just read the headline numbers.

  • ChinaCast: Chinese Filings Reveal Serious Red Flags [View article]
Out of the money DEC puts were being heavily bought right after buyout talks were announced. Does this make sense in light of recent insider open market purchases at considerably higher prices ? Only if the PUT buyers were preparing a hit piece to manipulate the price of the stock down.

  • Unmasking The Harbin Electric Buyout Drama [View article]
The article is ignoring the fact that the buyout offer was made 5 weeks BEFORE the loan which Yang signed for went through.

The article also ignores the fact that ABAX is putting $65mil in equity capital into the deal which they would loose before the CDB suffered a loss. It is also not clear whether or not Barings is excercising their right to contribute equity to the deal.
