  • The most exciting returns are to be had from an asset class where those who know it best love it least. What does it say when the first pick by Bill Gross at the Barron's Roundtable is gold? Gross isn't calling for an imminent bond bear market, but he doesn't see much upside either. For a fixed-income substitute, he recommends (what else) his BOND ETF, which trounced the competition in its first year and just added the use of derivatives to its toolbox. [View news story]
Be right back...I'm hungry...I have to go to McDonalds to trade a Big Mac for my gold bar.

Unless you're a conservative Republican who believes in BIG BUSINESS, the people who steal our labor, bribe our conservative Congressmen and rape our pensions. I'll take my elected government democracy over the unelected corporate state right-wing central planners any day.

Nice selective memory AFTER THE FACT. Try that propaganda during the Wall Streeters frat party that cut everyone's 401k...IN HALF. Ahhh...the conservative "mind".

I totally agree about persistence. But, Mensa is not about validation...it's about meeting others with your approximate IQ. Sour grapes is always a bad argument. I knew conservatives would not get it. Their brains can not fathom nuance or gray area or anything that complicated.

This is why the GOP is now just a collective of the most misinformed people on earth. They still claim today's one billion automobiles have no effect on our environment and then wonder why they are nationally rejected in the last 5 out of 6 Presidential elections.

  • Global prices for liquefied natural gas are rising toward record highs this year as increasing demand runs up against tightening supply, threatening to drive up fuel costs in some of the world’s biggest economies. With 80% of global LNG supplies locked up under long-term contracts, countries such as China, India, Brazil and Argentina that rely on short-term deals could face the biggest hit. [View news story]
The US is fast becoming the energy capital of the world under Obama, when all the "conservatives" were screaming "he won't let us drill or do anything, waahhh waahhh".

  • Is Shorting Apple And Going Long Natural Gas A Winning Trade Again In 2013? [View article]
Except...by the time that happens, as you say, the price will be too high. I've seen this scenario a hundred times. People talk about the future as if it's written in stone. This year and next year we will see a slow grind up in natural gas because those in the know are anticipating everything you just mentioned. The long-termers must take charge eventually.

Republicans took Congress in 1994...18 years ago...the Democrats had four years...two with GW Bush as President. The Republicans have controlled the power of the purse for FOURTEEN years out of eighteen ...PERIOD. It was John McCain himself who said he was shocked in 1993 under the Dems to see sixteen hundred earmarks. BUT..."even more shocked to see SIXTEEN THOUSAND EARMARKS UNDER REPUBLICANS".

YOU are seriously mis-informed my friend.

"Fannie and Freddie"...was the Republican's great propaganda scheme to "spread the blame" for the financial crisis in what was essentially ENTIRELY their fault.

I always ask conservative wing-nuts what percentage of total mortgages were in default when the mortgage market imploded. They can never answer. They prefer to spout their FOX Noise talking points and rant about "Fannie".

The number is SIX percent. That's right. Six percent of loans were in default when Lehman and the market collapsed. Did six percent of mortgages almost crash the world economy. Not a chance.

What did was Wall Street selling trillions in fake Credit Swaps with ZERO reserves to unsuspecting investors throughout the world while passing on inflated housing priced mortgages to Fannie, who was forced to take the loans. And who deregulated those Credit Swap derivatives? The Republican Congress. The same people who, under the Constitution have controlled our spending for FOURTEEN years out of the last eighteen.

Although I disagree with the article...the foundation of economics is politics.

"Certainty"...another fraudulent concept created by politicians as an excuse for inaction and failed leadership.

You know you're listening to a fraud the very second they say "we need certainty".

    NOTHING is certain...especially in economics.
