  • Study finds Facebook "basically dead" to U.K. teens [View news story]
Facebook was never meant for teens; besides, Brit teens don't have any friends so they just sit around tweeting people they have never met. I should know, I have three of them in my home and yes, we live in England.

  • What To Do With Ford's Stock [View article]
Surprised that CNBC didn't spend more time talking about the impressive results. My gosh, Ford posted a 55.0% rise in earnings per share to 31 cents in the fourth quarter of 2012 from 20 cents in the same quarter of 2011. Ford’s fourth-quarter pre-tax profit of $1.7 billion was the highest in a decade. Meanwhile, net profit surged 55.7% to $1.2 billion from $797 million a year ago. Doesn't get much better than this. We knew the international market was not good so the losses were not a surprise. Are the traders keeping this stock from moving up. Be patient is what I am telling everyone. Remember, about 6 months ago in August this stock was trading at 9 bucks. It wouldn't surprise me if they raised the dividend about Q3 of this year. But then again I look at the Netflix run up this past week or so and scratch my head.

  • Northern Tier Energy beats by $0.23. [View news story]
Dividend of .68 per share which works out to be about 11%. Not bad considering the downtime of the refining operation.

  • Suncor Energy (SU -0.6%) may make its C$11.6B Voyageur oil sands project the first major spending reduction among Alberta energy producers, as cutting production costs is one of the few options available while the region’s crude prices sink to the lowest in the world. The revolution in U.S. production and the gridlock in pipeline approval is "a train wreck" for Canadian producers, an analyst says. [View news story]
The XL will go forward. The president would be nuts to deny the movement of crude from Canada down to the Gulf.

  • Buy Northern Tier Energy LP [View article]
I like this stock and the company. Just received 3690 for dividend. I own 3000 shares. Was thinking about selling it when the price moves to the 26-27 range but changed my mind and think i will hold. This stock has yet to be discovered. Cramer needs to look at this one. I could see the stock moving to 30 soon. Remember, the stock was trading at about 32 on March 12 of this year. Did you see the P/E on this puppy. Incredible.

PE for Buckeye Partners is 18 while the PE for TCP is 15. Both are great companies.

  • Amazon (AMZN) is the new eBay (EBAY): just as eBay merchants have long griped over rising Marketplaces/PayPal fees, Amazon's 3rd-party sellers have become agitated over a string of fee hikes - both for Amazon's cut on merchant sales, and for related services. 3rd-party sales now make up 39% of Amazon's unit sales, and have been lifting its gross margin. eBay could benefit from the backlash - one firm estimates it costs $2.72 to sell a $10 item on eBay vs. $3.92 on Amazon - but as eBay knows all too well, complaining and leaving are two different things. [View news story]
We prefer selling on Amazon although we sell on eBay also and have for about 10 years. The difference in customers is glaring. A much better customer base on Amazon compared to eBay. We report buyer abuse on eBay at least a couple of times per month. We have reported buyers with abusive and foul language, threats, and even black mail. "If you don't pay return shipping we will leave negative feedback" even though it says buyer responsible for return shipping. We never get this with our products on Amazon which are identical to what we sell on eBay.

  • What To Do With Ford's Stock [View article]
Yes, you are right Robert. On earnings day we watched the stock approach 12.20. As I watch the screen during the day you understand how the traders are manipulating the market and Ford shares. Imagine going to work each morning as a trader and spending most of the day trading a 13 dollar stock with 10-15K shares each trade. Oh my, what fun.

Nice article. Thanks. I think we are too quick in writing off laptops and cpu computers and INTEL. The big story for 2013 is touch screen laptops running Windows 8 with Intel inside.

  • Retail REITs Continue To Provide Measurable Consistency And Durability [View article]
Nice post. I get a little nervous with the P/E's being so high on these stocks. O is around 42. They are way overpriced and there are other stocks that have very nice dividends that aren't overvalued and have nice stock growth as well as dividend growth.

Realty Income (O) DGR is only around 2.6% and the stock value has increased very little in the past few years. The dividend yield is 4.3 which isn't bad but as I said before, there are better dividend investments for the long haul than these stocks.

  • Ford Continues To Outperform; Shares Are Still Undervalued [View article]
Great post. I like this company. I have always been impressed with their recovery. Got in when the shares were trading at 2.00 and continue to buy/accumulate at 9.99. I agree with Jacob, once they straighten out Europe and hopefully improve sales figures in South America and Asia the stock will see 20 bucks soon. Meanwhile, not a bad place to park some funds with a dividend of 2%. Beats the bank.
