  • Oil's Supply and Demand [View article]
OOPs, problem is your whole article is an explanation of why the current spike (which has occurred over a short term) is in fact caused by speculation. Take a look at the volatility to see it is all speculation driven.

  • Hybrid Cars: It Finally Makes Economic Sense to Buy One [View article]
It's not just the miles but the type of miles that count. All of my miles are highway miles and the average MPH for me is lower than for a city driver so it makes less sense for someone like me.

  • Don't Count on a Fast Turnaround for Thornburg Mortgage [View article]
To Fraley, dude get out of the market. You have no clue what is driving the mortgage crisis. I bet you are totally unaware there is a mortgage crisis in Europe too caused by the same things that fueled it here. Politics whould be one of the last factors to consider when investing. You are an idiot.

  • Considerations on Investing in China [View article]
To duder, you must not have gotten out much in the USA since I do not see much of anything you seem to imply is present here. Like where you live but your comments on things in the USA are no more enlightened than the ones you are criticising.

As to China, some stocks are undoubtedly inflated. But the blue chips like CHL have a ways to go. I sold CHL with a 20% profit and have been kicking myself ever since....

  • Why I am Selling Thornburg Mortgage [View article]
TMA's problems aren't about the economy they are about a busted mortgage boom. Anyone who does not know that has no business investing in the stock market. Stick to savings bonds and savings accounts.

I will trow your comment back to you. What has Bush done to cause this mess? Don't geve me the war crap....

  • Will Thornburg's New Scheme Avert Bankruptcy? [View article]
Owning 5.5% dof the commons tock does not mean your shares are worth 5.5% of their value. It means they own 5.5% of outstanding shares. It is called dilution.

  • Thornburg's a Huge Bargain After Monday's Crash [View article]
I am watching this situation close. I am NOT a backer of government intervention but if any situation begs it this one does. If the government acts I am buying some TMA preferred shares.

We are probably screwed for now. The paper backing Thornburg's loans is good. This gives the creditors motivation to call in the loans. JPM's action are legal but ruthless and will make everyone involved in the mrtgage market take notice. I think today you see a firesale of previously stable mortgage securities as investors realize the IB's are going to rape the REITs of solid paper.
