1. I'm an Eisenhower Republican with great respect for Ronald Regean. That means I am a liberal, as were they, with a belief that intelligent government can achieve board goals.
2. I am a social conservative. I do not care for Section 8, Section 42, food stamps, free lunch, farm subsidies, the oil depletion allowance or welfare for the rich or poor beyond a safety net. That net has to be strong and complete enough that those who have lost the ability to support themselves can continue life with dignity and as consumers until they can find work again. I would like to see all subsidy programs dissolve and a living wage paid to all who work.
3. As a secular humanist I ...More believe that ethics and respect for all others are essential. It does not do to love humanity and hate almost every one. Inalienable rights do exist as do inalienable responsibilities. Thus I believe in the commonwealth idea. We are all in his together and have board mutual responsibilities met both at the person to person level, through NGOs and through wise but limited government.
