    Please don't make such simplistic statements about the fall of Rome. There are complex, muti-layored reasons for the fall. Migrating and expansionist hordes from the East pushing the Germanic tribes into Roman territory, over expansion, degraded leadership were just a few. There is also a theory on the life cycles of all civilizations. They go through five phases with the final being decline. Rome, Egypt, England and the U.S. Gold had a part but not the extent that you put forward.

    Why are Americans so blind when it comes to the economy? The government is like the starving dragon who stayed alive by eating parts of himself. After a while there was nothing left to eat and the dragon died. Over expanding the money supply must lead to inflation eventually and then collapse.
