  • BlackBerry - Where To From Here? [View article]
Michael, this article shows why you must be read. Very perceptive. It is the reporting of the Q1 results rather than the results themselves that is disturbing.

My options are likely worthless but the stock may not be if I hold on for 2 years or so. That depends on market opportunity for the funds.

Like you I want BBRY to succeed but I can not continue to be overweight when the turnover has not taken off as yet.

BBRY still has a lot on the go and is managing cash well so it is far from hopeless. But it is longer term now and hard to be confident when the company itself seemed unsure.
MM's article did not help. A sophisticated investor should not release an emotional 'pitch' just before a crucial report, in my opinion. I was a big fan of his but no more. Too bad as he does write well.

  • I Am Joining The Bears In The BlackBerry Bush [View article]
Michael, don't throw in the towel. I am distressed by the way quarterly results were reported, but the actual numbers are middle of the road not terrible. The story here is software. We did not expect much revenue from that until Q4.
BBRY turn around just went down a goal in the second period- but still has half the game to run. Manage your bets. Do not throw away the tickets just yet.

  • BlackBerry Earnings Are A Bust [View article]
I admit disappointment. I am still deciding on my shares, but I am not happy with the way BBRY reported to shareholders.
Middling results are one thing, bad handling of reporting is something else.

  • BlackBerry's Stock Jitters Can Gain Some Direction With Earnings [View article]
18,000 customers won't make much of a dent in 76 million. But 18,000 servers with an average of 1,000 users each would be a beautiful start even if the $99 rate per user is discounted for multi user packs.
That is q4 stuff for next March- not much impact on this quarterly report.

  • BlackBerry: Discussion Of 4 Major Topics Prior To Q1 Earnings [View article]
Nice work Elephant. I was a bit confused by the Q5 heading at the top of your chart. Looked liked quarter 5 rather than 'Q5 DEVICE'.

I just read about a BBRY VOIP experiment in the mid east. Added to BES 10 @$99 per user and the Financial transaction testing BBRY is certainly not asleep. I wonder how much else they have in the works and when they will choose to leak tidbits on those items.

Meanwhile, the market is expanding and the market device leader is laying off people. The only bad news is Bearkiller Ben may be retiring. If that is bad.
Long BBRY, join me for the party.

  • BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins Keeps His Word [View article]
Nice work again, Infinity. Can I join you and Lisa Perry for coffee tomorrow as shown on your screen shot or would I be intruding?
The 28 should be a day for long celebration.

  • BlackBerry (BBRY) launches Secure Work Space for iOS and Android, a service for BES 10 clients that allows business data (e-mail, intranet access, etc.) to be "separated and controlled." Cloud storage/file-sharing startup Box is an early partner. BlackBerry, which is charging $99/device/year for the service, wants to use its proprietary network to stand out in a very competitive device management software space featuring the likes of SAP, Citrix, and Airwatch. The company is also counting on value-added business services such as Secure Work Space to offset consumer BB10 service fee cuts. (previous[View news story]
$99 per user per year is sheer genius. Corporate packs for 25,50, 100, 250 , 500, 1,000 users will be available soon (Heh).
    Now that is marketing!

  • BlackBerry: More Devices, More Data, And More Revenue [View article]
Infinity, you continue to impress with your good work.

If I am reading the bears right they are starting to concede a good first and second quarter and laying the basis for the speculation that BBRY pent up demand is now completely used up and 'the second half will be much worse'. There is even talk of stuffing the channels with limited sell through.

How pent up demand for something sold on two year contracts could be complete in 3 months (and one week USA sales on the Q10's) I leave for a leading bear to explain. He is likely working on his piece as you read this comment.

I put a bit more money into BBRY today. I have been investing for a while and admit that BBRY has been a continuing education to me, so I can not blame nervous longs too much. I do not see the stock being available after June 28 much below $16 and maybe much higher. But it is a guess until we see some numbers. Big money does not like to guess.

Once again thanks to all, the comments are sometimes as good as the articles although articles like this one take much more work and deserve special respect..

  • BlackBerry Sales Are Sliding, But Are Still Higher Than Street Expectations [View article]
Jab, this is a very clever and well thought out article. Thank you for the time and effort. I also am perplexed about ATT, Verizon and Q10's. We know big carriers will not sit on their allocations. The phones must be going somewhere.

  • A BlackBerry - Chinese Company Merger Serves Apple And Maybe Hackers Too [View article]
Governments are not normally interested in your calls to your broker, your boss or your girlfriend. (s). If someone commissions the 'mission impossible' crew or it's Chinese equivalent to go after your accounts you are in big trouble, BBRY or not.
For commercial security BBRY is the best. If you plan on using your phone for banking or credit card transactions in future do yourself a favor now.
Leave the spy work to James Bond or Jason Bourne. The military will have ways to make a secure platform tighter for their privileged communications. But they will start with the best, of course.

  • Shorting BlackBerry Is 'For The Birds' [View article]

I am adding you to my list of follows. This is a very well thought out article on shorting BBRY. Thank you.

In the past BBRY had a long slide. Some big Institutional investors will need to see good earnings results before re-adding to portfolios in a big way- particularly since no dividend on this stock. Imagine how tired the committees are of hearing BBRY or RIMM.

Next February or March tax shelter money combined with 3 good quarterly earnings for BBRY should create a perfect storm for short covering if any significant shorts remain by then.
