Buying Fertilizer Stocks In Lieu of Camel Futures [View article]
I do not have an MBA... I don't even know a lot about the market but I have spent a great deal of time in Asia and the rising demand for higher protein foods is not going away soon. I also know that people run to AG and commodities when the dollar weakens and despite Larry Krudlow's rantings I see no evidence that the dollar will gain against other currencies.
I'm long MOS but will probably trim it considerably if the ethanol mandate goes away.
I do think there will be a sector rotation but despite bullish sentiment, financial, consumer discretionary and tech sectors worry me even if the talking heads are saying we hit bottom. Even though I got MOS at $100 every time I sell stuff off because of corrections, I regret it later. Besides, I spend 3 months a year in China... the demand for raw materials and ag is staggering.

I have only been in the market for a short time but never in my life have I seen something so large act so irrationally, except for the democrats. Almost all of my portfolio is in minerals, oil services and infrastructure but I'm thinking about sticking my toe in a little GS.
Will Anyone Try To Curb Rupert Murdoch? [View article]
"do you feel the same about Bill Gates or Warren Buffett? " Bill Gates yes, Warren Buffet no. For all practical purposes, Microsoft has a monopoly but the public tacitly approved of it. Murdoch is a different animal.
I'm long in fcx and while I think short term it will take some hits, global growth is multi-year and at some point the US has to do some serious infrastructure rebuilding.
"Cramer gives a lot of great advice. Even his harshest critics will concede he knows A LOT. "
I was being facetious to a certain degree. I frequently watch his show and he is the one that got me in the game in the first place. He is far smarter than I am about financials and I have learned much from him but I think you overestimate his influence and power, his audience in nowhere near Oprah's.... or Jon Stewart's for than matter.
I don't have direct exposure to commodities other than MOS and FCX and I'm sure they'll drop if and when the dollar gains traction but I'm in long and I don't see either one of these taking a nose dive. I am new to investing and the amount of info one needs to ingest is mind boggling, so I just do the opposite of what Cramer suggests.
Burst Bubble? Commodities' Long-Term Story Remains Intact [View article]
I am not an expert in commodities or macroeconomics but the planet can only produce so much oil, gold, copper, etc. I don't see emerging markets focusing a lot on alternative energy either. I'm long on CHK, MOS and FCX but short term it's painful. Damned if I'll short commodities though.
