  • Can Global Crossing And WorldCom Teach Us Anything About Netflix Or Pandora? I Think So [View article]
    Michael,

Great article I have thought the same exact thing about Netflix & Pandora - I love their service but they will always be very low margin businesses that will eventually fade away as new technologies make their business model obsolete. It's just a matter of time - my guess is in less than 4 years they will both be a shadow of their current companies.

  • Accounting Rules Hide Homebuilders' True Values [View article]
The tax loss carry forwards are a big help to the current homebuilder earnings. When these are depleted the earnings will not look so great.

  • Why Homebuilder Pessimism Doesn't Matter [View article]
    Pimlico,

I agree with you - I've been a contractor for almost 30 years and I started shorting the homebuilders in 2005. I view the home builders as indeed priced to perfection now as their are still too many structural economic issues in play. There is currently pent up demand from the last five years but that will soon subside and the homebuilders will be left with a glut of unsold homes and have to lower prices on them to compete with the increase of previously owned homes and forclosures that will soon be coming on the market.

  • Time To Hedge: 5 Stocks To Sell Short [View article]
I'm also short cmg, qqq, & crm ( as well as lulu, len, mth, pcln, n ) It has been a painful 3 months but I keep shorting more to keep my loss at 10% or less as I don't believe they can't defy gravity much longer. I was feeling this same way last year when I had big short positions in nflx, gmcr, open which were going against me big time - but they worked out great. Good luck everyone.

  • 5 Shorts to Consider [View article]
    Mark,

I know it is painful, but you will be proven right on every one of the stocks that you mentioned. The problem is always timing. I was heavily shorting the dot com names - just covered too early, was heavily shorting the home builders, but again covered too early, was heavily shorting Crox - again covered too early. I have been short all of these stocks you mentioned and still am short Netflix and Opentable - but will not cover too early this time - especially Opentable - it will be trading at about 25 in a year from now. Keep the faith - value always wins out in the end.

  • Don't Get Caught Holding These 3 Well-Known Stocks [View article]
I agree 100% with all three - I recently shorted both NFLX and CRM. These stocks remind me of the dot com implosion. It is just a matter of time and they will implode. They are all great companies but are way ahead of themselves. It happens all the time with momentum stocks the Cramer pumps - just look at CROX and many others - gravity eventually catch up with them and they fall fast and hard.
