  • BlackBerry's Breakeven Point And Beyond [View article]
    Thanks for the article...

As an investor in BBRY I am optimistic and although not super impressed with the hardware, I do think they can and will turn this company into a 15-30bn dollar business..

I feel BBRY is not just about who has got more pixels on the camera or which has longer battery life. As you pointed out.

    Cheers

Thx for the article... Very well written

I always find it fascinating when people take a huge risk of speculating at what might happened in a few years. While most of us have difficulty judging, using what is at hand at present, to put on a trade for a few weeks...

    Nevertheless, interesting arguments...Cheers

  • Throwing In The Towel On My BlackBerry Shares [View article]
    Thanks for the article...

I do agree with some of your points, and your sentiment.
The phones and "Link" need some serious work, disappointing.

The endless comments above sort of doesn't surprise me, this is a BBRY long camp. Say something positive, doesn't matter how backdated and you get an endless number of people agreeing with you.
BBRY will not survive if it doesn't sort out all these issues..

BTW dont bother with Blackberry Link. Its a pile of c**p.
I solved the problem u mentioned by dragging and dropping stuff directly into my phone on my laptop..

    I am still Long...

  • BlackBerry: Z10 Likely To Fail, Q10 And Q5 Give Hope [View article]
    Thanks for the article.

I can see you have moved away from "its a good deal" to "not sure if it will make it". All in a v short period (your last few articles on BBRY)....I can buy that, we are all allowed to change our views...
However, I find it strange that you missed out on the biggest advantage this company has, and did have...Its business users...

I have owned a Z10 for a few months, and generally agree with your sentiment. Cant be sure about Andriod phones, never used one.

The three areas where BBRY can develop a lead are, sales due to its security - operating system and business users infrastructure, Its high end phones and other devices. At present, that last two still need work. The question is, can BBRY fine tune these products fast enough..

  • Shorting BlackBerry: What You Need To Know [View article]
    Marcap, Interesting comments.

But I must say, having traded in large dealing rooms for over 15 years, a lot of traders DO loose money. The concept of "professionals always make money" is absolutely false. Actually you will be very surprised how many poor traders work in large banks, with access to large piles of capital. Where banks make money with more certainty, is where and when they have access to info not available to others, and I am not referring to anything illegal .

Also, if a trader puts on a lousy trade (e.g. going short) that trade has to be measured on its own basis. Nothing to do with if he makes money on trading volatility with other positions etc etc. One has nothing to do with the other.

Having said that, yes, pros do it for a living, and IF they are good, they know the ins and outs of all technicalities. BUT, trading is only 30% technicalities, ultimately, you have to get it right, the direction..

If you asked me 20 years ago, before the internet, when every trader had a Reuters and a Bloomberg terminal on his desk, yes they had a huge advantage. But nowadays, not so much.

  • Shorting BlackBerry: What You Need To Know [View article]
Thanks for the article. I am sure some will find it useful. However, the info regarding the short interests etc, is all well known.

So I am afraid, although we are all grateful for anyone going through the trouble of writing down their views. I see no real useful additional info, on top of what is already well written about.

    I am personally Long BBRY.

What I am much much more interested to know, assuming all investors are rational and have equal access to information, is why such a strong short interest?

No one has really discussed this issue on this site. This site is all about short bashing, and hip hip hooraying BBRY. To be honest, a bit boring.

I am interested to know why people trade the way they do. I know all about the mechanics and limits of short selling.

Once again, thanks for the article.

  • Hewlett-Packard In The Middle Of The Consumer PC Industry's Recovery Bubble [View article]
Sorry but this is a one sided article. Kept repeating the 76% increase, forgot to mention the stock, not so long ago, was 100% higher than where it is now.
More importantly, did not touch on the subject of future business plans.

1 out of 10 for this article. Nevertheless, thanks for taking the time. Every opinion counts

  • BlackBerry: How Can Returns Possibly Exceed Sales [View article]
Thanks for the article. I no longer think there is a CONSPIRACY against BBRY, by THE SHORTS. Some folks just dont have positive outlook, fair enough!! We are all here to make money...

Having been an Iphone user for the last 5 years. I recently bought a Z10. Generally I am happy with it.
Since I have never had a samsung or Nokia smartphones, I cant make a fair comparison.

However, I can envisage some Iphone users, buying a Z10 and returning it. Its a different feel, and if you are not patient, you might decide to return to what you know. Iphone is a great phone. We all know that. Personally I am bored of getting yet another iPhone.

I do like the Z10, and don't plan to return it. The swipe feature is gd. BUT BB has a long way to go. They need to improve features and that awful LINK interface for uploading etc, needs some serious work.

BB still needs to work v v hard, if it is to grab and keep 3rd position.

  • BlackBerry Has Taken A Licking, But Will Keep On Ticking [View article]
Having just looked at the numbers, for the first quarter 2013 GS expecting USD3.1bn in revenues, previous numbers were USD2.7bn. At USD2.7bn we prob still show a 220-400mio loss.

So around USD3bn rev OR profit of 0-200mio will be gd numbers, and will push stock toward 20 and over. Purity looking at valuations.

Most analysts are expecting rev < 3bn for 1st quarter..
