I've been investing for over 30 years, and very actively trading for the last 10 years. Although I love daytrading, I actually do much better at short term swing trading. So swing trading is where I devote most of my attention these days. I've traded stocks, options, futures, mutual funds, and etf's. I have very little interest in bonds.
I've had some really great mentors along the way. It's safe to say that without their guidance, I would probably not be a successful investor today. Some services/guru's I like are Jim Cramer, Dan Fitzpatrick, VectorVest, and Zacks. I like to work from recommendations from others, then do my own research to verify that it's an investment I want to commit capital to. I first got interested in investing when my friend's father went out of his way to explain everything he know about investing to me over several months (thanks Mr Kennedy!). This was over 30 years ago, and my interest in investing has only grown stronger with time. Now I trade for a living, and when anyone asks me about when I want to retire, I just tell them I'm never going to retire 'cause I'm having too much fun.
