  • In Defense Of Apple: Battling The Mounting Hysteria [View article]
I'm saying that's all he has to do. The stock is trading at a similar PE of major integrateds like XOM and CVX. Half that of "defensive" plays like PFE and JNJ. Below INTC, MSFT, etc.

It's lunacy. It's also lunacy that we should expect the stock to grow to the moon, but this company is still growing, substantially, and making money hand over fist doing so.

They should call for a 10:1 split and a $70b share re-purchase, on Monday. I just hope we get like a 5% move either way tomorrow.

AAPL will trade down to 425, maybe even 400. Cook will step in and Say "We are going to buy Twitter and spend $75b on a stock repurchase program". The stock will be back at $600 shortly after that.

Anyone can buy on the cheap if you use a half decent strategy on "stink" or "silly" buy limit orders. Find something you like and put in a buy limit 10% below today's value GTC. Refine the price level frequently and sometimes you'll catch good assets in a 2 day or 2 minute selloff. 5% can even be a starting point if you're willing to take some short term pain.

They want clean energy and clean energy jobs, yet aren't willing to pay the premium for it. The Solyndra's of the world aren't going to help people vote for Clean Energy initiatives if the govt is just going to give money to their buddies' companies so they continue to go bankrupt.

You prohibit Bill Clinton from allowing Glass-Steagall to be repealed. You prohibit Barney Frank from lobbying for a company that his boyfriend worked for that guarantees 40% of the mortgages in the US. It's not just 'DUBYA' folks, it's our entire governmental structure.

I think the Republicans, the reasonable ones, have been fairly forthright in the idea that they want more effective regulation rather than more regulation. That's the opposite of shouting down anything resembling regulation.

It's not that hard to figure out why Goldman IPO'd the year Glass-Steagall was repealed, and yes under a republican congress with a dem president. But Barney Fife was at the time sleeping with the Fannie CEO and helping to enact law to make mortgages a mere drop in the bucket to qualify for, and we were in an election cycle. All in all, its not one party or the other's fault, but or idiotic electorate that has continued to be run over by our govt.

Like Barney Frank's boytoy that was the CEO of Fannie?? Like the Wall Street that gave more money to Gore, Kerry, and Obama's campaign than any ever?? It's top down regardless of party. When will the simpleton's realize this??

No, we actually had more regulation after Glass-Steagall was repealed, it was just more regulation that was lousy. Please look it up.

You don't get it, do you?? You don't get that the Tea Party is just as tired of govt interference as the OWS doesn't know they are, since it was govt interference that enabled the banks to act as they have. Nevermind

Reinstate Glass-Steagall, abolish naked Credit Default Swap issuance, encourage Goldman/MS/Merrill/etc to buyback all of their stock and make themselves partnerships once again, get rid of $7.99 stock trades and co-location of supertrading computers.
