  • BlackBerry slips; Pac Crest notes purchase commitments  [View news story]
Nobody knows 100% what will happen.....but as long as fairfax Prem Watsa owns 10% I'm confident a deal will get done. My guess is minimum 10 billion which would be almost a double from here. Motorola was purchased for 12.5 billion and there patents and balance sheet were not as good as blackberrys.

  • BlackBerry Short-Sellers Finally Begin To Cover  [View article]
A family member of mine works for Honeywell and they just upgraded his blackberry to another blackberry. The large companies are not switching from blackberry. I believe management has failed to promote the new blackberry products and carriers are partially to blame. Analysts expectations were set too high, but at these valuations I believe bb has bottomed. 3.1b 1.5b. Q10 was outselling galaxy 4. Don't listen to media.

  • Does the tumble in Whole Foods Market (WFM) following its FQ1 report showing slowing sales and margin trends look any different in light of what could be a wider consumer spending pinch - highlighted dramatically by a leaked Wal-Mart self-assessment? Though the firm still expects double-digit growth and is a dominant brand in its niche, a line from the grocery store operator's earnings call resonates even louder with retail sales looking troubling. WFM on margins: "...we intend to expand our value offerings across the store." (transcript[View news story]

  • More on BlackBerry (BBRY -6.8%): Deutsche's Brian Modoff is questioning early reports (from Thorsten Heins and others) of strong Z10 demand in the U.K. and Canada. Deutsche's survey of 60 stores in the countries found no sellouts in the U.K., and that those in Canada were attributed by reps to limited supplies. Meanwhile, Detwiler Fenton notes in its report Samsung "has been poaching key engineers and managers" from BlackBerry as it ramps its enterprise efforts. (earlier[View news story]
First week almost every telus and Rogers store was sold out, not a handfull. I actually called over 20 stores and was told that. These shorts sellers are getting desperate.....another Netflix squeeze in the making.

  • After rallying yesterday in the face of Jim Balsillie's disclosure, BlackBerry (BBRY -4.3%) is lower again today. A possible culprit: Detwiler Fentor reports Samsung (SSNLF.PK) plans to unveil an "enterprise platform" at the Feb. 25-28 Mobile World Congress. However, Samsung's SAFE initiative, which provides enterprise security/management tools for its mobile hardware, is already well-known. As is the fact BlackBerry faces competition on the device management software front from Good Technology, SAP, Citrix, and others.  [View news story]
