The Best Way To Hedge Against A Stock Market Decline [View article]
I have used TLT in the past as a hedge for stocks. Currently have a position serving that purpose now. Considering adding to it a bit because of the future uncertainties. Agree with your advice. Just need to be careful in how long we keep the hedge on. A rise in interest rates will greatly impact TLT. I think rate rises are still some time away, though? Your thoughts?
What Does A Big Market Correction Actually Look Like? [View article]
Your best article to date. The examples you give for corrections are sound as justify that there is little need to panic. The key is hopefully the dividends won't be cut and income doesn't change. That will let you ride out a correction if you stay calm. I really like when you post the original price of the investments. That gives us excellent target prices. Your advice on spending and saving is sound and to the point. Sage advice to live and prosper by.
General Electric: How Safe Is The Dividend? [View article]
Agree with your conclusion on GE's ability to pay dividend. Interesting approach for your analyses! I've hesitated buying shares though because the total return over recent years has not been good. I would appreciate your thoughts on GE as an investment versus just it's ability to pay the dividend.

I sold off my mReit over the last few weeks. Was becoming too risky. The overall yield on my bond funds is 4.5% and 3.5% on the stocks portion of the portfolio. I'm comfortable with those yields now with the current macro risk. Will work to ramp up the yield a bit after things become a little more clear to me :)

Well done! I am choosing to "follow" you from hereon. I like you have chosen to allocate just over 70% of my portfolio to fixed income and cash. Rest in equities including gold miners. Gives me comfort on the downside while still providing good returns.

Given the macroeconomic risks over the next 6 trading days with ECB and FOMC meetings, if the shares are called away I would hold the cash and wait a week before making any decisions.
