  • Is IBM Really In Such Bad Shape? [View article]
For sure, IBM has been a better investment than GE in the last decade. But IBM is relentlessly heading south (in a bull market) despite a low PE valuation. Revenue is decreasing in all its major business areas. This a red flag. IBM shareholders don't want another incarnation of GE.

  • GE: What To Look For In GE's Annual Outlook Meeting [View article]
This is just more garbage from the GE PR department. The truth is that talk is cheap and GE is too big, too slow and too bloated with management layers to be competitive in global markets. The "conglomerate" business model went out of favor in the sixties as unproductive. You can bet that every manager at GE got more than a 5% increase this year, while every retiree got his or her medical benefit cut off. Thanks Jeff.

  • Is IBM Really In Such Bad Shape? [View article]
IBM shareholders should know that another big company, GE, lost 90% of its value beginning 15 years ago, then never recovered either share price or dividend, all under the same managers. Three years of declining sales should be a red flag to IBM shareholders: you don't want to become another GE.

  • General Electric: A Bitter Pill To Swallow [View article]
The one cent dividend increase could be a blessing if GE shareholders would be inspired to "do something" about how the company is managed (i.e. replace the directors and fire the managers). Right now IBM is in "even worse" shape than GE. Perhaps IBM shareholders will recognize from GE that "something needs to be done" before the shareholders lose most (or all) of their investment. We'll see what happens, if anything, but GE managers heretofore have been safe from accountability for their poor job performance.

  • GE's Software VP: Tapping The $12B Industrial Data Analytics Opportunity In Japan [View article]
I'll bet that every GE manager in the company (there are thousands) got more than a 5% raise this year.

  • GE's Software VP: Tapping The $12B Industrial Data Analytics Opportunity In Japan [View article]
This article is pure GE propaganda. GE is not a software company and never will be. GE is too big, too slow, and too expensive to compete with Silicon Valley. It won't happen.

GE needs to develop a new 20KSI "blowout preventer" because the one they sold to BP for the BP Gulf of Mexico drilling rigs didn't work very well. Did it?

  • IBM: Too Much Of A Debt Thing [View article]
You can see why the fed will never raise interest rates: banks and companies (like IBM and GE) would lose money. Higher interest rates won't happen.

  • GE Part II: Oil And Gas Segment Analysis [View article]
GE is forty years late getting (significantly) into oil and gas. (GE is a little slow.) Now hydrocarbon prices are falling so cap-ex will vanish. So much for GE "oil and gas."

How long will GE founder before "somebody" does something?? That person won't be Immelt or anyone presently on the board. IBM is also sinking fast. But IBM shareholders won't have to wait fifteen years. for some changes. It won't happen.

  • Is IBM Suddenly Vulnerable To A Takeover? [View article]
No American company will buy IBM. It's too messed up. The best that IBM shareholders can hope for is for an activist to get some share votes and "clean house". Maybe when that's done, GE (Immelt) can be next.

GE should have gotten out of oil and gas when oil was $107. At $75 oil GE won't make any money.

  • Sell IBM: Moribund Business, Overvalued Stock [View article]
It's true, IBM shares are headed lower. If IBM managers can't create wealth for its shareholders, IBM shareholders need managers who can. The board should fire the managers now, before IBM becomes another GE.

  • General Electric Has Had A Nice Ride Up [View article]
Immelt should never, ever, ever have been in France paying shareholder dollars for a dog s**t company (Alstom) while also promising the French gov't not to fire French workers. As lame duck CEO with a terrible track record, Immelt should have stayed home begging shareholders for forgiveness for his miserable failure as CEO of GE. GE shareholders are going to be really sorry for the Alstom episode.
