my portfolio-over 70 different co's with div average of about 5%.lots of work but it has worked well for me for many years of my retirement.the high yield chancy stuff-so what if you have a 12% yield & it gets cut in 1/2? actually its a great indicator that maybe you should get out.when GM cut its div i got out at a profit.
as an old geezer i just hold them & get the nice income.if i ever sell(doubt it ) my cpa is paid good money to figure it all out.im too dumb.just reading all this made my head spin.LOL.
More analysis on the rumored PepsiCo (PEP) - Mondelez International (MDLZ -0.8%) combination (previous): JPMorgan's John Faucher is a major skeptic that PepsiCo will be willing to merge Frito-Lay with Mondelez even with activist investors on the scene. simplistic,simplistic?... all you can say?let me tell you simplistic-pay off a 30 yr mortgage in 15 years.drive a car for app.200,000 mi. save & pay cash for the replacement.pay all free credit cards on time & even collect bonus $.then with the thousands you saved buy a large amount of fairly high yield utility & put the dividend on a "drip" program.maybe if you had 5000 sh of HE your electric bill would be of no concern.i could go on & on but im sure it would be just too simplistic.

any body remember-britain tried all this & it failed.thatcher had to undo all the state run(?) stuff. if you are a socialist just say so. churchill said"democracy-the best of the worst".this can be applied to capitalism.the mess this country is in is due to goverments that are not held accountable.a state run electric co would not be held accountable. a lot of people i know think they are entitled to vacations, new cars, huge tv's but dont like to pay for electricity,water,prop... taxes etc.a lot of people want smaller govt. you cant pick & choose & you cant have it both ways.
