Retired, former college prof, manager in large coprorations. Most of my investment experience before 2008 was passive, through managaged mutual funds. After losing 40% of my retirement income, I transfered my holdings to a brokerage firm and began to learn investing. My first picks were depressed stocks, easy to find, with low price to book and low debt to equity. Fortunately, just about everything was at the bottom and starting up so I made a few profitable trades. I could see that I was making a profit, but leaving money on the table so I investigated the web sites to see how others went about investing. That lead me into energy stocks and making covered calls as well as understanding the value of dividend payers. ...More Since regainng the original value of my portfolio, my interest has switched to building steady income. My holdings are now 2/3 income and 1/3 growth potential.
