  • IBM: Perhaps A Time To Buy [View article]
Revenue has dropped for the last 9 quarters (I believe). IBM is getting their lunch handed to them buy their more nimble competitors (like in the strategic business areas in which they are trying to compete. And it certainly appears that the company's leadership is clueless. All of those are NOT good things. Frankly, no matter how cheap the stock seems at the moment, right now IBM is looking a LOT like a tired, old horse getting ready to get sent to the glue factory. Personally, and this is just my opinion, there are a lot easier places to make a buck in this market.

  • Apple Has Its Mojo Back [View article]
It amazes me that some people just don't get it. And frankly, at this point, they probably NEVER will get it. AAPL is not a stock you trade. You own it, buy more on the dips (like the ridiculous "bendgate" issue) and then sit back and watch the money roll in.

Seriously... if you have a problem with that investment scenario, you'd better re-examine exactly what you are trying to accomplish by investing in equities.

  • Apple beats estimates, issues strong guidance [View news story]
Okay... where do the Apple Bears (or should I say Blair's) stand now???

iPhone blowout numbers and that was with only 9 days of iPhone 6 sales included in this quarter. Increased forward guidance too! The iPhone seems to be cannibalizing the iPad numbers, but other then that this is a dream report.

  • IBM tumbles 8% after disappointing results [View news story]
Get serious! The problem IBM is having are strictly IBM's fault and have nothing to do with any of the above nonsense you are sputtering off about. IBM has been trying for years to mange their business financials so that there appears to be growth with NO GROWTH actually exists. I've argued this issue on SA for years now. Eventually, the chickens always come home to roost and now is appears is that time.

The Fed has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that IBM is being dragged down by it's legacy technology business, inept management and the fact that it has been lapped multiple times by companies that just do a much better job at providing services in the core business IBM is trying to compete in (like

  • Hedge fund manager escapes Shire deal in the nick of time [View news story]
There were a lot of people who questioned whether this deal would ever complete. I sold my shares in Shire the day after the deal was announced. To blame Obama for some wrong move made by some greedy hedge fund guys is the height of stupidity.

I'm not a Democrat but I wish the anti-Obama crowd would stick with the logical arguments against President Obama. It's just makes the rest of us also look like a bunch of "right-wing nut jobs". That's a label I would chose to live without.

  • Moody's cuts Russia's sovereign debt rating [View news story]
    @FreeMktFisherMN said:

"Eastern nations are much more so minding their own business than the West"

I'm sure the people in the Ukraine would argue otherwise. Russia (or the USSR) have executed the EXACT same foreign policy as the USA over the last 70 years. The difference was in the result. For instance the difference between East and West Berlin before the fall of The Wall.

If Putin does fall, it won't be because the West wanted him to fail, it will be because his 2-dimensional view of world affairs led him to believe that he could pretty much do whatever he wanted to another sovereign nation and get away with it. I believe Saddam Hussein had that same view of world politics back in 1991 when he invaded Kuwait and that didn't turn out too well for him either.

  • Moody's cuts Russia's sovereign debt rating [View news story]
It certainly isn't good news for Putin. Should this continue, the money men in Russia will continue to put more and more pressure on him and that would probably be good news for the West. Russia is the poster child for how political issues will be settled in a 21st century global financial community. It'll be driven by who gains to make money and who stands to lose money. Putin's view of the world is stuck in the 1960's and that will probably lead to his eventual undoing.

  • SanDisk -5.4% AH on light Q4 guidance; Micron -0.8% [View news story]
When Micron reported their quarter just a couple of weeks ago, it was spectacular. Plus they gave terrific guidance. Yet the stock continues to suffer because lesser competitors can get their act together and the fact that Samsung is going to build a DRAM plant that will be operational in 2 or 3 years. That is ridiculously silly. Buy MU on this weakness and make some money.

Disclosure - long MU Jan calls.

  • Bullard suggests delaying end to QE [View news story]

  • Bullard suggests delaying end to QE [View news story]
The REAL problem is that Bullard just likes to hear himself talk. The problem is every time he opens his mouth, he causes a market ripple. As mentioned above, he's been a hawk for the last few years, now this??? Maybe tilting the markets is the thrill he gets? Anyway, I believe he's out at the end of the year. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned.

  • Las Vegas Sands misses by $0.01, misses on revenue [View news story]
Certainly not the "end of the world" scenario everyone was predicting for LVS. I'd still call this stock a buy anywhere under $60. Probably a strong buy if you are a long-time holder.
