As long as that COMPLETELY ineffective CEO John Chambers is in charge, Cisco will continue to be what it has been for well over a decade... DEAD MONEY.

  • 5 Stocks With Booming Fundamentals For Buying In 2014 [View article]
I actually like TWTR as a "long-term speculative" investment. However, buying this thing anywhere above the low $40's before they even report their first EVER quarterly earnings would be the height of stupidity. Why? No one really knows if they make money or, if they don't, when they actually will. That said, I'm willing to bet TWTR makes steady headwinds into a commercially viable product faster then anybody anticipates. It's just impossible to quantify when that will be at the moment or at what shareprice. Therefore, buying TWTR here is like buying a lottery ticket and we all know how often those pay off.

  • Guggenheim colors up on Disney, upgrades shares to Buy [View news story]
Absolutely LOVE Disney as a long-term investment heading into the new Star Wars releases coming in 2015. Think about how much share appreciation the Marvel brand created. Well, this will be like Marvel on steroids. Any pullback under $70 is a significant buying opportunity (IMO).

Disclosure - Long DIS (and plan to stay that way)

  • GM: Momentum Stock Candidate 2014 [View article]
Hang in there. GM is one of my favorite 2014 stocks (not that it really matters). You might just break your streak of picking losers with this one. Good luck!

I just rub my eyes when I read comment like Moon's. They really have absolutely no basis in reality when you look at the fundamentals that GM is CURRENTLY operating under. They are just simplistic overstatements of the authors confused mind.

  • BP suffers setback in Gulf oil spill case [View news story]
Okay... So, the meaning of the first bullet point would be that anybody could file a claim whether or not the oil spill had caused them economic damages, right? So, if I ran a barbershop or a dog grooming salon, I could still file a claim, right?

This judge must be on crack.

  • The Next Crash Is Coming... [View article]
Frankly, there are people (myself included) that would almost welcome a 5-10% market correction so that they could buy companies at a discount to where they are currently trading. That is just the truth.

Frankly, I would bet that there were people in 1995 saying the same thing this author is saying and they probably were shocked when both 96 and 97 featured 20% market gains. Of course, the tech bubble was only starting to get started. However, there were still 5 full years of massive market gains to be enjoyed. And the market was incredibly more frothy then it is today.

The point is that the chicken little types only have to be right ONCE before they say "I told you so" while the investors who are long this market need to be vigilant and review their holdings on a set schedule as to not get caught with their pants down.

One viewpoint will be right and one viewpoint will be wrong. I'm long this market and intend to say that way until there is a reason to change (in my opinion). So, I guess that tells you what viewpoint I hold, right?

  • General Motors: An Attractive Investment Opportunity [View article]
I would appreciate any comments regarding comparisons between Ford and General Motors looking into 2014 - and even beyond.

Currently I own both F and GM and still find myself liking both, but for somewhat different reasons. However, I have huge gains in both and currently find myself "overweight" in the automobile sector. Therefore, I am thinking of trimming back my position in one or the other.

And thoughts regarding these automobile makers would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Apple Is Living On Borrowed Time [View article]
Yeah... That statement got me too. Few facts. Just conjecture.

It's funny (sad?) when a person gets a "pebble in his shoe" like Mr. Brooks has with Apple. Facts cease to matter and the person starts screaming "the sky is falling". The real truth is that the doomsayers only need to be right once to say I told you so, while people holding any stock "long" are constantly under fire like AAPL is from Mr. Brooks. The problem with being a doom-and-gloom bear, is that with a stock like AAPL you can go broke waiting for the world to end. I think that is what would have happened here had Mr. Brooks had the guts to put his money where his mouth is. Alas, he holds no current position. I on the other had own 400+ shares of Apple and several long call positions.

  • Apple: All Systems Go For 2014 [View article]
Just for the record, I'm long Ford and believe that the shareprice will be far above $17 by this time next year. The point is that the Ford story is probably only in like the 4th inning and has a long way to play out. Stay long.

  • BlackBerry shooting higher; Chen expects FY16 profits [View news story]
I should have been more specific.

BlackBerry's operating cash flow for the first nine month of fiscal 2014 stood at $405 million compared to $2,093 million for the first nine month of fiscal 2013 (down 81%).

Now BBRY can adjust their business plan and restructure all they want, however, recovering from an 81% cash flow loss under any circumstances is fairly difficult, no?

  • Credit Suisse Slaps 'Top Pick' Tag On Chevron [View article]
I completely agree. CVX trades like a bond with a stable dividend. Nothing wrong with that, but to expect CVX to hit $145 would shock the heck out of me since that would be a HUGE move for CVX.

Personally, I like BP better at this point. The oil-spill overhang is starting to dissipate and BP is cheaper with more growth possibilities. Sold 40% of my CVX and moved into BP at $44 a share. I'm going to ride that allocation into 2014.

Disclosure - Long CVX (1/2 position), BP and COP.
