  • Alcoa: The Best Long-Term Opportunity On The Dow [View article]
I hope you are right, but I won't hold my breath. I've held a small position in AA and have been looking for an "out" for what seems like forever. Personally, unless the global economy recovers significantly (which is always possible I guess), I don't see this stock going much of anywhere. There is still an over abundance of aluminum in the world market and that is depressing prices significantly. Frankly, if the stock gets over $10 a share again, I'll dump it. There are just way easier places to make money in this market right now.

  • Alcoa Earnings Preview: Trading Below Tangible Book, For A Reason [View article]
I've been long a small position in AA at a entry point of about $12.00 for almost two years now. While I admire the job Alcoa's CEO Klaus Kleinfeld is doing bailing water out of this sinking ship, I just don't see anything here to get very excited about. The fact that China continues to produce alumina at a loss and Europe will probably be in a recession well into 2013, gives me very little hope for a share price recovery anytime soon. Although I think AA is pretty much at the bottom of it's range right here, it really looks like dead money to me moving forward.

Therefore, I'm looking for a reasonable entry point to exit my AA position, but I'll wish all the "longs" luck and hope they see a turnaround soon. I just won't be there if (or when) it happens. Frankly, there are just waaaay easier places to make a buck in the market right now.

If people sell meaningful positions based upon a jobs report that had wildly optimistic expectations given the weather gains in January and February, and then couple that with an earnings report from a habitual stinker like Alcoa, they deserve to get hammered. People who use AA as a signal of anything other then a badly managed company trying to survive are just looking for reasons to be bearish. The market is up over 10% in 3 months. What do people expect? A straight line upward? That's just ridiculous. Flush those sellers out of the market and let this train continue down the track because a blind man can tell the economy is getting better - albeit slowly.

You want some solid stock advice instead of this short term dribble? If JPM does in fact get hammered, as the author predicts, buy on any meaningful dip. You'll be very happy you did by the end of the year. And yes, I am long JPM.

  • Alcoa May Hit $15, Century A 'Sell' [View article]
Waiting for AA to see a significant share price increase is like waiting for the ugly girl at the bar to get better looking. It probably isn't going to happen any time soon.

Still think you are going to get Alcoa at $10?

I have to disagree [jstratt]. I bought into Alcoa at a little more then $11 and I still think there is a 10-15% upside to the stock short term - with a low $20's target longer term. I really like the fact that aerospace... the auto industry... & other manufacturing strength is starting to kick into a higher gear and all of these are very positive for AA in 2011.

Personally, I think if you are waiting for a chance to buy AA below $10, you are going to be waiting a very long time.
