Nokia Hits A Home Run With Asha And Facebook [View article]
Hope mr. Elop does not listen to tye anti microsoft crowed. I wish they did not own shares at all. How rude they were. Changing a platform would be to devastating now. We would be back to having lost our identity and purpose. Its to early to tell, and we need to give microsoft and nokia time. There is no garantee that switching platforms would magicaly fix everything and nok would shoot up to 60+, at least right now nokia has a vision, why go backwards to look for one. I agree with another article, part of the issue is advertising. I dont think a lot of people know much about what products nokia offers now. People just need to be better exposed in western markets to nokia like they are in india. Advertising drives sales, only recently i have seen a lunina commertian on youtube. Cant tell how long sense ive heard about a nokia product on tue radio or tv. Good products that a lot of people dont knoe exist
While TPG-Axon won nearly half the seats on SandRidge Energy's (SD +1.9%) board, it will continue to face an uphill battle to reverse a slumping stock price, a Reuters analysis says. With a sale apparently off the table, SD's future rests on its 2M acres in the Mississippi Lime, but the value of the acreage took a hit when Chesapeake sold some of its stake in the region for far below what analysts had projected.[View news story]
Also natural gas prices will fluctuate but the overall trend will be higher prices as countries look to balance their oil use and reduce demand on oil as populations rise. Especially european countries that will eituer need to go nuclear, but are trying to avoid it, and coal is deffently off the table because it polutes to much, englands area is hf the time covered in clouds, this makes it hard to go solar, and same with the wind. The practicle solution for these countries will be natural gas to reduce dependence on oil, especially middle eastern oil. I hear gas prices in europe are like $8, americans shouldnt complain lol. This should help gas producers, especially ones that can be diversified in the energy sector.

Nokia Faces Tough Decision On NSN's Future As Siemens Plans Exit [View article]
maybe thats why they stopped the dividend. Take that cash and buy out the other half of NSN, maybe nokia can get siemens to agree to sell its stake to nokia over a 2-3 year period. I would be happy to sit without a dividend while they use those funds to take full control of what is profitable for them.
8 Reasons To Buy The Fallen French Giant [View article]
I do not think at this point it matters much if the french government takes a stake at what everyone thinks is a worthless security. Infact it at very least it would increase the % of held securities. The french government wont be to pushy at this point. At this time it will probably result to some form of QE to keep business open and people with jobs. This is why it would help the stock price and i would say government ownership at this point might benefit the company and increase its chance of servival.
Shiv Shivakumar, Nokia's (NOK -1.9%) operations chief for India, the Middle East, and Africa, is leaving the company. Nokia (NOK -0.7%) insists it's "in full compliance" with Indian tax laws, and will fight a $383M tax bill levied by local authorities. Vodafone can sympathize. The tax bill arrives as the NYT's Nick Wingfield reports India is one of 7 markets (per IDC) where Windows Phone (MSFT) shipments outpaced iPhone (AAPL) shipments in Q4. The others: Russia, Argentina, Poland, South Africa, Ukraine, and a group of small Southern/Eastern European countries. Indian iPhone sales have begun to grow, but off a very small base. SandRidge: Future Numbers Will Be Better Than Today's Numbers [View article]
This is the best article ive read about sd, thanks for writing.
There is one thing, one person, or even, one family that stands in the way of sd succeeding. This company will grow and produce profits but no where near what it can do with Ward as CEO and a bunch of yes man board members.
A man cannot serve two masters. The presentation by the hedge fund ferms has revealed Wards conflict of interests. His children benefit from everything sd does. Its best for every stock holder to replace Ward andthe board to maximize value and profits.
This company will probably see 15 dollar shares but with ward gone and the waistefull spending ended this company can go over 30 easy. Especially with natural gas demand growing world wide and oil staying high. The days of cheap oil are gone, but sd has such a big advantage and a bright future if we can get Ward out.
If Ward was serious about adding share holder value he would get rid of the private mini airport of luxury jets and stop wct reaources from flipping land to sd at 5x the price they paid. What he is really looking out for is himself. His family as the proxy reveals is getting much greedy gain. Hes doing barely what needs to be done to keep the lights on. SD does all the drilling and exploration. His sons own acrage right next to SD land. They themselves have not invested in much exploration. Once sd land is proved with results its obviouse that wct being right next to sd land will have the same benefits. So they sit and use shareholder money to prove oil reserves for both sd and wct
"What is the Street missing," asks an agitated Leon Cooperman (owner of 24M shares) on the SandRidge (SD -3.7%) earnings call. Noting TPG's estimate of the company's value is double the current price, Cooperman wants to know why the stock is languishing and how management plans to turn it around. In response, CEO Ward says the company continues to suffer from the "unorthodox" moves taken to stay afloat in 2009. He notes a string of earnings beats and the "extraordinary value" of the Mississippi play. [View news story]
If Ward was sincere he would back up his talk with actions. Like selling his 30 mil jet to start with. If he wants one, he should use his own money to buy, maintain and staff the jet, not SD payroll.
