  • Advice For John Chen And The Rest Of BlackBerry's Management [View article]
I have owned a BB10 device since day one of its release and it has NEVER froze or shut off on its own. My son and several friends say the same. I think you had a bad unit. BB10 is superior to any OS out there.

  • BlackBerry's QNX supports Apple's CarPlay [View news story]
People should quit trying to spin this as some sort of Apple acknowledgement of QNX - because it's not.

Perhaps not Apple but certainly the auto manufacturers.

  • BlackBerry: Why We Are Not Selling Our Shares [View article]
    Thanks for the article Tuefenk

I agree excuses are for the weak. I would like to add to your comeback plan list,
    4) a national ad campaign that uses the negative sentiment to its advantage and shows the strengths of BB10 is an absolute necessity. Negative views on Blackberry are killing US sales. In order to get the consumer to buy your device there needs to be compelling advertising to overcome the salesperson's negativity. Money must be spent here.
    5) make a FREE Q10 transition team available 24-7 for all those long time 9900 users that are having a hard time transitioning to the new OS. There is some negativity building here because things that users are very adept with on OS7 are either no longer there or are done differently. Put this telephone number in the box and staff it well. The upgrade transition needs to be smoothed out.

  • Digging Into BlackBerry's Cash: Things Are Not As Well As They Seem [View article]
Thank you for the well put together analysis.

The next 2 quarters will very likely be the toughest 2 quarters that Blackberry has ever faced. If management can steer through them relatively unscathed they have a real shot at turnaround. In the mean time the stock is going to take a beating and be very volatile. For those of us with a long time horizon (call it a wee bit more realistic than a couple of quarters) for turnaround it is still a gamble due to the negative sentiment that Blackberry must overcome and burn cash to do it. Boulben needs to start earning his keep or Thorsten needs to find someone who can.

Kept my core but sold the rest. GLTA

  • BlackBerry Sales Are Sliding, But Are Still Higher Than Street Expectations [View article]
Thank you Jaberwock for a well presented article with facts to back up your assertions.

The life cycle of all phones is getting shorter and shorter. There is a clear view to commoditization. Blackberry is back in the game due to its software. The platform is simply excellent and very efficient. The real money is yet to come with mdm.

  • BlackBerry Browsers Grows 21% In The UK At Apple's Expense, Soon To Overtake Samsung [View article]
Just taking into account the sheer number of devices Apple, Samsung and Nokia have out there any movement upward by Blackberry on the worldwide chart bodes very very well for Blackberry. It takes an awful lot of devices to move the needle on a worldwide chart.

    Great article Michael!!

  • Early signs from the U.K. Q10 launch are "very very good" and BlackBerry (BBRY +3.1%) foresees "several tens of millions" in Q10 sales altogether, says Thorsten Heins in a Bloomberg TV appearance (video). Given BlackBerry's own sales figures as well as 3rd-party forecasts, he might be getting ahead of himself. Meanwhile, RBC has raised its May quarter BB10 shipment forecast to 2.75M from 2M, citing signs of "pent-up demand" for the Q10. (Jefferies report[View news story]
Thorsten Heins does not see the world (especially BlackBerry) through rose coloured glasses. This is a man who shortly after taking power and finding out the true facts of what was going on internally turned this company upside down, refocused it then commenced to execute a very well thought out plan. Since that time he has never given a reason to doubt his word, perhaps even too conservative at times.

If he says "several tens of millions" in Q10 sales I believe him.

BTW several conjures up 40, 50, 60 million in my eyes certainly more than 10 or 20 million. This phone is going to be a killer!

  • BlackBerry (BBRY +1.4%) spiked in afternoon trading after U.K.-based SA contributor Michael Collins reported of strong Q10 demand at a Carphone Warehouse store on launch day. According to Collins, the store sold out of its stock of 2K units within 90 minutes, with demand apparently well above that seen for the Z10. Some of the demand came from exporters, many of whom were "buying 20+ units each." (Q10 reviews[View news story]

Not a big fan of Cramer in fact we all know anything that spews from his mouth is generally tainted but watch Joe when Cramer tells them he doesn't buy the bear case. At the end I am sure Becky is talking about BlackBerry with her throw it in on this comment......and she's right she is done for lol

  • In spite of receiving plenty of sell-side love, BlackBerry (BBRY -0.8%) couldn't hold onto its post-earnings gains. Bernstein thinks BlackBerry's results/guidance indicate "resilience in service revenue" in spite of pricing changes - BlackBerry claims most of its 3M sub losses came from the low-ARPU prepaid segment. Thorsten Heins stated on the earnings call 55% of Z10 buyers have been from other platforms. Cheaper BB10 models are due later this year. EMEA made up 46% of FQ4 sales, Latin America 18%, Canada 8%, and the U.S. and Asia-Pac 14% apiece. (more[View news story]
