  • Why Does Mr. Market Fear American Realty Capital Properties? [View article]
Maybe his grinding wheel is out of balance.

  • Linn Energy: Get Ready For Another Hedgeye Short Attack [View article]
If Hedgeye can keep hammering away every month to keep the
stock price of LINE and LNCO down, the shorts don't have to get
creamed with paying the dividend each month.
Otherwise, without the attacks, their patrons would be paying out 10%
    dividends, while the stock recovers.
Linn Energy and Linn Company are not likely failing, and long time
holders of these equities will be rewarded in the present with nice dividends,
and when the attackers finally are rested from their questionable tactics,
the stock price will recover to preminence.

  • Why Does Mr. Market Fear American Realty Capital Properties? [View article]
Hi Brad, well this is perplexing. It just does not seem as if the market makers,
have figured out ARCP's future yet.
At any rate, its our money that we're investing here, so its our responsibility
to make the trade work for us.
I'm staying in, but watching the daily markers closely for indications that will
make ARCP more viable a buy or a sale.
I'm often disappointed in how the general market reacts.
It's as if the majority is investing more and more on the backs of others,
without doing their own due diligence.
Fundamentals don't seem to be paramount to a vast group of investors.
So, anyhow, you've done your part in support of ARCP, we'll just have to
outwait the neigh-sayers, and wait for a more positive outcome.

  • Linn Energy: A Closer Look At LinnCo's 'Dividend' [View article]
DSandman, nice little post, very informative.
By the way, that the first time I read that China and Russia
were upset about the Keystone pipeline.
    Why would they care?

  • Unplanned Early Retirement, Part 3 - REITs In My IRA [View article]
Nice article Kevin, it is not over the top and I like that you have
no claim to financial expertise, just a regular investor.
It so happens that I am hungry for dividends and REITs are at the
    top of my list.
I see a big opening in the IT and data service field and Digital Realty, DLR,
fills in nicely, with a nice dividend.
Ventas, VTR is a great way to get into the healthcare real estate grouping,
again, nice dividend and current mid-range trading price.
Also O and OHI, for healthcare, are solid.
All these go well in an IRA portfolio.
NIce dividends and growth as the bonus.

  • Is American Realty Capital A Monster Or A Machine? [View article]
If a person is buying this REIT to day trade, they are missing the boat.
This is a monthly paying stock, with reasonable volatility, not really a great
stock to trade in and out of over a short period of time.
Those of us who are looking for steady dividends over a much longer period,
    like stocks of this ilk.
This stock fits well in a traditional IRA.
    Is it perfect? Probably not.
If you don't like this stock, leave it for those of us who do.

  • Retirement Strategy: Adding A BDC For An Improving Economy And More Income For Retirees [View article]
Hi RS, long time no comments.
I'm still reading your articles, however.
And this one interests me, in as much as I see the BDCs as
an important piece of the financial pie for mid-level businesses
that help keep this country moving ahead.
MAIN does seem to be worth some research and maybe a starter
position for my monthly dividend group.
In the last year or so, I've added more monthly payers than quarterly
payers, and I like them for a couple of reasons.
First, they don't seem as volatile in pricing, maybe the shorts are
scared away by the dividend, they might have to pay if they don't cover.
Secondly, the steady increase in cash from the dividends or distributions,
supply fodder for new investments or just increasing a positions share or unit
    count.
    Thanx for the info.

  • Linn Energy: A Closer Look At LinnCo's 'Dividend' [View article]
Those of us who hold LNCO, KMR and the like in our IRA accounts,
have the best advantage, when it comes to tax time.
No K-1's to deal with, and best of all no taxes to pay on capital gains and
dividends on those equities that reside in the IRA's.
We only have to pay taxes on the distributions we take from the IRA.
AND if we have no K-1's to deal with, it means we can file our federal
taxes earlier in the year and get the refund [if any] much sooner.

  • Is There Adequate Bench Strength For Digital Realty? [View article]
Interesting, this sub-sector of the REITs has growth potential.
Initially, my coverage was with CONE, but the dividend didn't live up
    to my wants and needs.
Digital Realty is a larger company, that not only pays a nice dividend,
but appears to be in position to grow substantially.
Before the departure of the CEO, I had already made a decision to
have DLR represent this group in my portfolio.
As stated, the dividend is what I was looking for, and now that I've already
made the move, I'll hang in to see where this is going.
In the meantime, $83 per 100 shares every quarter, is a nice place to watch from.

  • ARCenters - You Have To Think Anyway, So Why Not Think Big [View article]
Oh no, my mistake, somehow I was thinking of the Tanger Mall
when reading this articles comments on ARCP. That mall is unenclosed,
quite a bit like the other one on Rte 501, which also is Tanger.
This is a 'senior moment' in action. ; )

  • Campus Crest Looks Cheap, Should I Hit The Buy Button? [View article]
Hi Brad, I just added some more CCG yesterday.
It helps me quite a bit with making these moves, each time
you lay out the numbers on these many REIT equities.
Confidence in making these investments, comes not only from my own research,
but from the thorough research you make and share with your followers.
    Have a great day.

  • Has The Market Priced Too Much Risk Into Kinder Morgan Energy Partners? [View article]
Sumflow, I know you don't buy that the negative news reporting has
caused some of the declines we have seen in the trading prices of the
    Kinder Morgan stocks.
So, we'll have to agree to disagree, on that subject.
I have been noticing a narrowing of the trading price differences between KMP and
KMR, in the most recent trading sessions.
Could it be that more of those investors that want to avoid K-1 issues are realizing the advantages of KMR over KMP for trading accounts, such as IRA's?

  • What Is Berkshire Hathaway Really Worth? A Comprehensive Look [View article]
Plenty of info to digest here. A well done to the Yorkville Investor,
for the hard work of sifting through the details of Berkshire Hathaway
    holdings.
I've been noticing some activity by BRK A+B, that seems to indicate,
that they are raising cash for another large acquisition.
Of course, I realize that this company is always trading in and out of
positions, in order to lock in profits, so its probably just me
becoming more aware of the stock action.
It doesn't hurt the situation, when Mr. Buffet shows up on the financial
programs and lets us in on his ideas and business directions, as he has
    in the last few years.
    Full disclosure, long BRK.B.
