  • The Nokia Shorts Were Right All Along, And Fatally Wrong At The Same Time [View article]
Terrific article, from a writer whose cogent commentary I have appreciated many times.

  • China Biotech In Review: Glaxo Officials In China Detained For 'Economic Crimes' [View article]
I did not know that this was "news." Income from this source constitutes a substantial portion of subscribing physician -- and hospital -- income and has for a very long time.

  • Microsoft's Interest In Nokia Is Fantastic News [View article]
So many twists and turns in this stock over the last 11 months. Perhaps the only principle to have validity is the old chestnut, "Buy on rumors, sell on news," as the last few days have shown. Even with all the information being discussed in this article and responses to it, it is has been very difficult to predict where things are going with it.

  • Reviving The Blockbuster Potential Of LibiGel For BioSante And Antares Pharma [View article]
BPAX and the Ph III trial failure was the third loss of a 'can't miss' biotech for me in that Year of Living Dangerously. Ouch, ouch, and ouch. But since it was clear then that the trial failed not because of a lack of efficacy of the drug but because of the super-efficacy of the placebo, it seemed just a matter of time before the company could work out a solution to that angle. This has a good chance to fly because, as Mr. Yasar points out, the condition Libigel is to treat lives in a Wasteland.

Interestingly, because volume is so much lower than during the Fall, the number of 'days to cover' has increased to about 8 1/2 (as of 4/15 -- unfortunately the report appears more than two weeks after the date reported).

  • Nokia: Did You Make The Same Mistake As Me? [View article]
While I remain bullish on NOK long term, I sold my position during mid January after the run up following the pre-eannings advice on technical grounds, and have only this week found a reason to open a new long position. Interesting that after what can only be called a disappointing Q report, Investor psychology remains confident, and on modest volume. This stock has been so interesting because the SP, which reflects investor attitudes, seems to have little to do with the actual performance of the company at any given point in time.

"Buy on rumors, sell on news" ... but not this time. Pain in the neck!

A far cry from the $2+B that was widely r(umor)eported.

  • Once Again, Nokia Gets Downgraded By Goldman Sachs [View article]
Now I am reminded that in MIchael Lewis's 'Liar's Poker' about his trading days at Solomon Brothers during the halcyon days of the 1980s, it was pointed out that recruits who appeared to have been good students at good schools but who seemed to lack talent and ambition were hired as analysts. Those were the dogs of the operation, tools really, grinding out the pap that went with large scale trading operations, held in disdain, really, by people on the floor and in the corner offices. Kind of assumed everyone knew that -- maybe not.

  • Short Interest For Nokia Is At An All-Time High [View article]
@seppo and jippej Thanks for digging up the short numbers for the HEL markets to complement the data from the USA. The affect of the aggregate short position on SP is clear, which accounts for why the SP behavior has shown little relationship with what the company is actually doing.

I had a similar experience with a Samsung device. I probably would have done better buying from an illegal street vendor in China somewhere (maybe you would have to have been there to fathom the comparison). But they are advertising all over the place with "K-pop" stars, and as has been pointed out elsewhere, fashion trumps quality and originality in most of E. Asia. And as iPhone has shown, in the US, too, it seems.

@Waterloo Might you consider writing a consumer review of your device somewhere. I am sure you could find readers who would be interested in the minute details of your experiences making photographs, dialing phone calls, using various apps and the like.
But not here, where you are merely a dirty smear on paper.
