  • Will Apple Emulate Gold's Plunge?  [View article]
Sorry. With all due respect, I don't buy it. It's not like they are sitting around hoping that iPhones & iPads stay in the forefront. This company is constantly striving for that new "thing." That is Steve Jobs' legacy. Sad that he had to leave us for that Bigger Apple in the Sky, but Tim Cook strives for that same excellence! Any company, like AAPL, with enough money to make their stock scarce with the biggest buyback in Rock 'n Roll History and a generous dividend that will increase this year should never be discounted (in more ways than one).

I am a man of convction and I am long AAPL.

  • Apple Shares Are In The Reign Of Uncertainty  [View article]
I believe in AAPL. Any and every company has bumps. AAPL lost a visionary ion Steve Jobs... that is more than a bump. However, he left that company with a road map and enough cash to buy a couple countries. This is a different day, but AAPL has the resources to make fools of the critics.

In the meantime, I am adding to my position and taking advantage of a 3% dividend that I know they can pay.

My other serious positions are: T, AMGN, FCX, PSEC, FSC.

  • Mortgage-backed securities continue their tumble, the yield on Fannie Mae issuance up another 8 bps to a 20-month high of 3.29%. The "violent" reaction to the "moderate" shift in Fed message proves the market was "all-in" says TCW's Bryan Whalen. The slide in MBS prices eventually might make for great opportunities for mREITs (REM -3.9%), but for now book values may continue to deteriorate. American Capital (AGNC -4.8%), MTGE>>, Armour (ARR -3.9%), Invesco (IVR -4.4%), New York Mortgage (NYMT -5.1%), Apollo (AMTG -4.8%), Javelin (JMI -4.7%).  [View news story]
Just happy my ARR is paying it's dividend for the next 3 months.

  • Prospect Capital (PSEC +2.2%) plans to keep its payout in place for the rest of the year, declaring monthly dividends of just over $0.11/share for September through December. The company notes the rates it pays on liabilities are locked in for many years, while the rates it receives on assets float - "providing upside to shareholders as interest rates rise." I believe Prospect Capital is a well-run company. Besides receiving a generous dividend you can enjoy an exciting company who may have some good growth ahead of it. I will say that I really enjoy that monthly dividend and also own ARR and FSC. However, I have just sold my entire positions of NLY and AGNC -both of which pay quarterly.

  • David Trainer's $240 Apple Price Target Analysis Just Doesn't Add Up  [View article]
    LOL... I agree 100%, bmwr1200c!

It's the most successful company in the history of the world with enough money in the bank to buy several small countries and they're betting AAPL will never come up with another idea. Like most all companies they've got to find there next big thing. They certainly will be able to back up a 5.3% dividend at $240 a share, amigo.

Thanks for posting. Got my juices boiling and I had run out of coffee!

  • Prospect Capital (PSEC) buys further into the apartment rental business, closing three new apartment deals totaling $27.4M. Two of the multi-family properties are in Florida (Tampa and Bradenton), the other in suburban Atlanta. (PR[View news story]
I love and own Prospect Capital (PSEC). From all my investigations and opinions from others I truly believe that it is a great buy for the long haul. As in any buy it is wise to wait for a pull back, though it rarely goes much under $10.70. I am very impatient and the only REAL deal for me was when it went under $10.50 mid April.

  • 5 Mortgage REIT Preferreds To Consider, Part V: Armour Residential  [View article]
I am a long-time owner of the ARR & NLY common stock. Although they both have cut their dividends, I believe that they will enjoy an up-swing in business as the housing business starts to turn around.

I am worried about share prices going down today with the possible considerations of European Banking considerations. Though I do feel it will be a buying opportunity.

I also own the other financial-related FSC & GLAD, both of which have nice yields.

I would like to own AGNC & PSEC, but have not found acceptable entry points.

As a side note, I have made really good money on VLCCF.
