Exactly my point Bill Ackman Is NOT the chairman of the board but he represents the largest stock holder. This guy is very gifted and JCP is not his only investment. The very fact that he has not bailed out on this stock speaks volumes on the future viability of JC Penney. Steve Roth of Vornado Realty sold half of their JCP shares because they were under-preforming and he needed justify the losses to the Vornado shareholders. If JCP was as good as dead and worthless they would have sold the entire stake.

Maybe you didn't read my comments but Short Interest is down 7 million share in 3 Months ...not weeks
Furthermore JPC tapped the credit line ONLY ONCE on Monday for $850 million on Friday the news was how they are looking into ways to raise an additional $500. mill by leveraging their real estate

"Several banks, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, have proposed loans in the range of $500 million to $1 billion that would be secured by the company's real estate, according to sources familiar with the matter."

Please stop spreading untruths there may be laws against that in this country.

  • Tesla Motors Short Squeeze May Be Imminent  [View article]
Glenn, the circut breakes are triggered after a single day move of 30%, with the stock @$50 that translates in a $15 intra-day move enough to bury most shorts.

  • Gilford Securities' Bernard Sosnick thinks shares of J.C. Penney (JCP +0.7%) can see $25 again as he chimes in with a surprising upgrade on the retailer to a Buy rating from Neutral. The analyst isn't scared off like most by the prospect of equity dilution of as much as 10% to insure survivability. What to watch: To gain any sales momentum at all, it's critical that JCP can see some success selling Martha Stewart goods without using her brand name on the products or in marketing - a rather a tall order by the accounts of most retail watchers.  [View news story]

Than again those same retail watchers did not warn us two years ago when the "new" management embarked in their new vision of JCP did they? I say JCP will turn things around and they say JCP can't... that's what makes a market and in the end he who walks away with the most money is the one that was right. "Short" squeeze coming in the next 30 days.

To quote Mark Twain: "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."

Stock was just upgraded to BUY @ Gifford ... This company if far from dead. They have cash on hand they have and a revolver of 1.85 billion which they can and have used proving that they are still credit worthy to both investors and suppliers and yes valuable real estate in major malls (unlike Circus City) but to me the biggest tell is the decline in the "Short interest" which has gone from 63 million in December to 61 million in February to 56 million at the end of March. If this was a company spiraling to its death "short interest" would be climbing don't you agree?
As far as the Macy's mess I say so what that JCP may not be able to use the Martha Stewart label... they can still sell the items under their own brand. If you were in the market to buy Martha's sheets would you go to Macy's and pay their premium or to JCP knowing they have the same products without the logo?

  • General Motors (GM) says the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze Turbo Diesel will deliver 46 miles per gallon, a rating higher than previous estimates from the automaker. What to watch: The era of Detroit gas guzzlers appears to be long gone as the Big Three (GM, F, FIATY.PK) continue to deliver vehicles (diesel and non-diesel) which meet or exceed mileage ratings from Japanese automakers (TM, HMC) for comparable models. The trend from Detroit could also have some impact on EV sales (NSANY.OB, TSLA) if consumers decide catching +40 mpg fuel economy is "green" enough.  [View news story]
5 Years ownership cost driving 12,000 miles per:
    ......................... ........ Gen Maintenance

    2013 Cruze gas price = $20,000 $6,294.00...... $2,000.00
    2013 Cruze diesel price = $22,000 $5,358.00......$2,000.00
    2013 Tesla S 85 kWh price = $72,400 $ 330.00........... NONE
The model S does not require engin / transmission oil change, plugs, belts, etc... all maint. is free including wipers
estimated car value in 5 years
    2013 Cruze gas price = $5,000
    2013 Cruze diesel price = $5,5000
    2013 Tesla S 85 kWh price = $48,000
Again you are comparing a luxury car with a regular car.the travel cost would be the same if you used a Mercedes deisel, BMW..etc. those cars are in the same cost range as the Model S

46 MPG that's great ....but travel costs for 100 miles

    2013 Cruze gas 35 MPH $3.67 a gallon cost = $10.49
    2015 Cruze diesel 46 MPG $ 4.11 a gallon cost = $8.93
2013 Tesla model S with 85 kWh battery use 3.08 kW @ $.18 cost = $0.55 ... and best part NO EMISSIONS and no imported oil used.

  • Tesla Motors (TSLA +3.2%) CEO Elon Musk pushes for support in Texas on a bill which would allow electric vehicle manufacturers to sell cars directly to consumers. Though the automaker has won a few victories in other states, the battle against Texas auto dealers could be a bit tougher.  [View news story]
Bigbenorr this is not a car for the masses, but if you are in the market for a luxury car and you have $70 to $100K to spend than the Tesla S should be considered for all the upsides it offers. I feel that the lessons learned with these high end vehicles and continuous advancements in battery technology will in the near future translate into a cheaper EV that you and I can afford. I understand this may put you personally out of work but big oil days are numbered my friend.
    P.S.
Some laws are just too silly and outdated and need to be reviewed.

Luck?? LOL you must be a GM car dealer ... these cars have very few moving parts and are easier to own than regular gas cars. Routine software updates handle most issues without interrupting your life, while annual inspections ensure your car’s long-term health. The Model S is also smart: it periodically monitors itself and can alert Tesla, with your permission, to issues so that they can be resolved quickly and easily. Many issues can be resolved remotely, but if your Model S does require in-person attention, you can bring it to a Tesla Service Center or schedule a "Tesla Ranger" visit.
Imagine that they come to you!

  • A little courtroom drama flared up today during the trial between Macy's (M +1.8%) and J.C. Penney (JCP +2.2%) with accusations leveled at JCP that it's selling products on its website in breach of an agreement to stop showcasing certain categories. The judge in the case will rule on the issue tomorrow. The bigger issue: J.C. Penney needs a win or a settlement in the case to avoid losses on inventory and a gaping hole in the retailer's line of home goods.  [View news story]
"Losses on inventory and a gaping hole in the retailer's line of home goods." How do you figure JCP will lose money on inventory if the judge rules Macy's has exclusive rights on MSO merchandise? Wouldn't the merchandise sale to JCP be a breach of contract and therefore illegal for MSO? as far as a "gaping hole" aren't you being a little too dramatic... I read this morning that JCP has a contingency plan in place where they will look to Asian suppliers to produce an emergency line of private label bath products, bed linens and kitchenware to fill the void and production could take 75 to 90 days.

  • In an interesting twist, J.C. Penney (JCP) CEO Ron Johnson took longtime critic (and former CEO) Allen Questrom on a tour of a prototype store in Dallas last week in an effort to show the him the futuristic shop-in-shop look the retailer plans. Questrom hasn't comment publicly yet if his opinion of the retailer has been altered. Shares of JCP are a rare sight, adding 2.2% as the broad market capitulates.  [View news story]
Well KnowsAlot spoken like an ex- employee.
the reality is the JCP is not going to close its doors or go bankrupt anytime soon. This is a company with $900 million in cash Credit lines of 1.8 Billion and valuable commercial space. in a worst possible scenario with a JCP out of retail business they could still lease the space and make the company stock worth $40.00 a shs (as reported by ISI last month)
Yes, JPC does have problems for sure; dated stores, outdated inventory, and an uphill battled to revitalize the franchise, but unlike what the lemmings on Wall Street would have you believe this company is “NOT” as good as dead. These are the same people that wrote off Netflix, Yahoo, HP, BestBuy’s….etc. and sold you Apple because it was going to @$1000.00. Give me a break, when was the last time any of these "experts" bought something at JC Penny?
The stock is way oversold and any positive news is going to make it run up.
Short Squeeze coming soon my friend

  • George Soros has reportedly withdrawn several hundred million dollars from Bill Ackman's Pershing Square Capital over the past few months. The reasons aren't yet known, but perhaps Soros isn't pleased with the way Ackman has so publicly backed himself into a corner. Despite some big hits, Pershing Square was up on the year through February, though shy of the S&P's gain.  [View news story]

  • Tesla's Car Financing - What I Think Happened  [View article]
That may be but now lets factor in that 32,300,000 shs are currently sold short and will need to be covered and that out of the 115 million shs outstanding 75,900,000 are institutionally owned and the great majority of the remaining shares are in the hands of true believers of this company, how will that effect the stock price in the next 2 years?
The "Shorts" will be squeezed and that is inevitable here (do the math) and most will look back and will wish it would be at this price levels.

I do agree with you that Tesla is not like Facebook, Tesla has a real product that is generating income, Facebook is a fad ... remember "MySpace"?
