  • Mitek Systems: When Preparation Meets Opportunity [View article]
How does this company make money? Do they get $s/deposit.
Are they paid an annual fee per company based on ???.
I find it difficult to put my arms around the potential sales number for a quarter, year or whenever.
Is it fair to assume that sales / bank, insurance company etc will increase as usage w/that institution increases.
This inquiring mind would like to know.

It appears that buying OPKO is the best bet here.
It is like buying an ETF representing all these companies and the risk is diminished by the diversification

  • Major Stakeholder Applies Pressure on FX Energy to Shape Up [View article]
This article is older than my wooden golf clubs.
This management does not appear to know anything that is of value.
The price of oil has risen exponentially and the price of this stock has just languished--of course you can't sell what you don't find

  • Blackstone (BX -1.5%) sniffs out opportunity in Spain's beaten-up property sector, making its first real estate investment in that country by picking up 1,860 apartment units in Madrid for $166M. The company is also bidding on 3K rental units being sold by the regional government of Madrid. [View news story]
$892,000./ unit does not sound like a bargain to me

  • Bandaging Wounds From Another Promoted Stock Scam [View article]
These stocks are promoted on the internet and by fancy looking mail pieces that I (and many of you) receive at least monthly.
They are fraudulent-obviously- and the SEC should investigate these practices .A call to the SEC and your local congress person could help get the ball rolling and prevent this practice from escalating even more
    LET's JUST DO IT!!!

My absurd thought as I read your article and observed the inordinate amount of time this process has consumed is---Can the FDA be like the IRS and be delaying the process for political reasons???

  • Opko: Retail Investors Vs. The Insider Cliff [View article]
The author tells us he is short but not how many shares or at what price or when he went short. That is not full disclosure in my book.
The article is interesting--written like an investment banker with an advanced degree but basically ignores any reasons the stock might go up.
    Possible buyout in the works?
Possibility that the products or research that were recently purchased might render results greater than he anticipates.
Possibility that in addition to buying existing products, some of the researchers that work for the companies purchased are extraordinarily talented?
I could go on but there generally are reasons why stocks are near their 'highs' and their 'lows

  • Cash Hoards On The Sidelines And The Great Rotation: Old Myths Meet A New Reality [View article]
    James
Your article certainly produced an avalanche of responses from which all investors could profit.
The amount of cash on the sidelines is a fixed quantity at any point in time is an obviously correct statement.
The amount of 'INVESTABLE' CASH is in a constant state of flux and changes day by day as people add to their retirement funds, as insurance companies get more money to invest and as colleges and charities get contributions, etc
So in fact, there is more investable cash chasing a relatively fixed number of securities which should lead, over time, to an increasing stock market.
