Some advocate "freezing" your credit. As I understand it, no one, not even yourself, can add another credit account in your name unless you unlock. You have to do this with all 3 credit evaluators.

We'll never know. What Democrat would have come forward back then to challenge Hillary for the nomination. BO may well have been sidelined after that, etc.

Back in 2007, I think he was considering it. They were putting pressure on him.

Either my wife or I or both of us get an American Express application every week. Never had one of those and no plans to get one.

Looks like it depends which of the 3 raters and who is reporting the raters' scores. TransUnion gives me a 787 when I check at CapitalOne, but an 840 when I check at my Discover card account. Equifax gives me an 853 when I check using my Citi card account.

Speaking of Ditka, I have always wondered where we would be today if the Republicans had persuaded him to run for the Senate against that young community organizer, Barack Obama.

Leon Cooperman gave a humorous anecdote on CNBC on Friday. To paraphrase, a technical and a fundamental analyst were sitting at the kitchen table when one of them knocks a knife off the table, and it goes into the fundamental analyst's foot. The fundamental analyst yells at the technician, "Why didn't you catch the knife?" The technician says, "I don't catch falling knives, why didn't you move your foot?" The fundamental analyst says, "I didn't think it would fall that far."

Today's WSJ has an article about the different discounts based on where the oil comes from because of quality, shipping costs, etc. It shows West Canada Select at an over $13 discount to the NYMEX Crude Oil Price, whereas Bakken oil at only a $3.13 discount.

We're probably seeing fewer Canadians down here in Fla. this winter because their dollar is now only worth 69ยข.

They're talking a little gloom & doom about what's happening in China on CNBC -- comparing the possible damage (much larger) to what happened when Thailand ran into problems a few years ago.

I don't get it: If China's growth is only to be 4-6%, that's on top of years of 7% plus growth. The base has been growing so the smaller percentage of growth is still very substantial

I don't think the Saudis mind hurting the Russians either. Russia's support of Iran-friend Syria, and Russia's selling air-defense missiles to Iran can't make them popular w/ them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Chinese were re-valuing the yuan because, being pegged to a dollar that had gained value, the rise in the yuan's value was hurting their exports.

Supposedly, worldwide demand is expected to be 96m barrels a day in 2016. They're saying that current supply is exceeding demand by 1.5m barrels per day.

You have those stock pickers who won't touch AMZN because of meager profits and those who like it because they think AMZN can generate substantial profits anytime they feel like it.

Probably more than half the merchandise I buy is ordered using AMZN.

Some guy on CNBC was predicting last week that AMZN would eventually be the world's most valuable company. Their AWS is viewed as a threat to companies like Oracle. Are they going to cut into UPS's business by handling their own shipping?

With the Washington Post, Blue Origin and AMZN, Bezos is an amazing guy.
