  • Wait Until 70 For Social Security [View article]
I took social at age 66 and my wife will continue to work. However, she is entitled to 1/2 of my social security income and will continue to work for another 2 years. Then, she will collect at a higher monthly rate. Since my payment is effectively an additional 50% for the next two years we decided to take mine early and let hers build.

I like the transportation sector. I like railroads. They allow me to actually watch my money in motion. I go to youtube and watch videos of CSX trains! I also own ENB and PAA. They are also in transportation. I cannot watch inside a pipeline.

  • Defending Your REIT Portfolio Against Market Folly [View article]
The defensive investor must confine himself to the shares of IMPORTANT companies with a long record of profitable operations and in a strong financial condition. As the above commentor implied companies that meet this requirement have the potential to become money minting machines. I own HCN, OHI, WPC, I intend to collect dividends for as long as I live and put all of my portfolio in a trust so that the dividends will contiune for my heirs. I am not concerned with price fluctuations. I am concered with dividend payouts.

  • Bogle's Views On Retirement Income [View article]
Thanks David as I had not really thought about sources of retirement income that I have created for myself and how I can use those different income streams to enjoy my remaining years. In addition to Social Security, and Dividend Growth Stocks, I can include Annuities, Bonds, Cash Dividends from Whole Life Insurance and Drawdowns from ETF funds.

  • Super-Fast Growing Mid-Cap Growth Stocks With Explosive Returns [View article]
A primary reason for a DGI is to be able to use the income from the dividends to provide for retirement. The snapshot of the 11 year performance results for the three companies listed would indicate that one would need to have a very size able portfolio in order to generate a decent income. Having a mix of growth and dividend stocks would allow for some different scenarios on how to combine dividends with drawing down the growth stocks (selling) to add to either income or to purchase more dividend paying stocks.
