  • The Common Man Portfolio And Total Return [View article]
I agree. The years we struggled to create the money we have to invest is faced with risks that we might not want such as taxes, inflation, dementia, market risk, etc. It required much effort to create our prinicipal and it will require effort to maintain it. That is why I stay tuned in to this site.

  • The Common Man Portfolio And Total Return [View article]
What are you gonna do if you are a retired senior and you have to have income from your principal? What are your alternatives? All directions point to the market. Like it or not you will become a portfolio manager of your assets and eventually you'll be buying dividend paying stocks. People are starting to get it the Fed has made the market the only game in town. Where was the market in 2008? Where is it today? What is the Fed doing and how are its policies contributing to the demand for dividend paying stocks?

  • Our Dividend Growth Portfolio Produces Our New Retirement Paycheck [View article]
I agree with 20 stocks 8 of them on Bob's list the majority purchased in 2008. Collect the dividends and reinvest when timing is right. Sleep well and enjoy life.

  • Dividends Do Matter, But There Are Two Sides To Every Story [View article]
Stock market wisdom came after some serious mistakes were made but I stayed in the game and now I see that cumulative dividends have now exceeded my original investment cost.

  • Should Dividend Investors Care About Entry Price? [View article]
Entry price is the moat around your money. Benjamin Graham called it the margin of safety. I bought into the market in 2008/2009 it was a great time to enter as prices were very low. Today's market requires more study/effort/and research on what to purchase. Will the stocks I purchased then keep on rising? Or will they plummet? I have capital in the game but since I entered into the scene at a good price I am not nervous or worried about my position.

Quick snapshot. I bought SDRL in April 2011 at 36.00 a share the increase has been steady and the dividend has been generous. I got into SDRL as a result of the article's Power Hedge posted on SA. Do your own research on this company and determine for yourself its potential.

  • Is the Greek Crisis a Buying Opportunity or a Serious Risk to the Financial System? [View article]
I find it interesting that now a small nation has the leverage to topple the European Union. The reaction by the people of Greece to their situation is much different than say the Irish. Is it too late to boot the Greeks out of the European Union?

  • Global X SuperDividend ETF Offers One Stop, High-Yield Dividend [View article]
I liked the comment from poortorich regarding too many companies in a portfolio and do you really know what they are doing. I took a position in EWD as I wanted to diversify into foreign stocks and I was lacking the time necessary to purchase and study all the companies on my list so to make matters easier I chose a fund that did that for me. EWD does not own a large number of companies and it too has an expense ratio of .58 and has a low correlation to the S&P 500. I thought Sweden would be more stable than other European etf's plus I like their mystery writers. The performance of this ETF, well that is a mystery that will take some time to sort out.
