As a profession, I am working as an asset manager for a major pension fund. My investment style, which is also reflected in my private blog that I have been running for a couple of years (originally in German, now in English), is pure top-down, macro-driven. What you therefore will not get from me as opposed to many other contributors is any particular stock-pick. Instead I focus on the major asset classes or regions, which can be traded through ETFs, like whether I prefer US Treasuries or High Yield or equities, whether rather US or Emerging Market equities and only occasional which industry sector, but no single stock.
Harry S. Dent Jr. studied economics in college in the 1970s, receiving his MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar and was elected to the Century Club for leadership excellence. Harry grew to find the study of economics vague and inconclusive and became so disillusioned by the state of his chosen profession that he turned his back on it. Instead, he threw himself into the burgeoning new science of finance which married economic research and market research. Identifying and studying demographic trends, business cycles, consumers’ purchasing power and many other trends empowered Harry to forecast economic and market changes.
The core of his work the “Dent Method” (forecasting long-term economic trends based on the study of and changes in demographic trends) was developed by Harry in the late 1980s.
Since then, he’s spoken to executives, financial advisors and investors around the world. He’s appeared on “Good Morning America,” PBS, CNBC and CNN/Fox News. He’s been featured in Barron’s, Investor’s Business Daily, Entrepreneur, Fortune, Success, U.S. News and World Report, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, American Demographics and Omni. He is a regular guest on Fox Business’s “America’s Nightly Scorecard.”
A best-selling author, Harry has written numerous successful books over the years, including The Demographic Cliff – How to Survive and Prosper During the Great Deflation of 2014–2019, which details why we’re facing a “great deflation” after five years of stimulus — and what to do about it now. Most recently, Harry published The Sale of a Lifetime: How the Great Bubble Burst of 2017 Can Make You Rich, looking at the upcoming economic crisis and revealing how it could be the single greatest chance to build wealth we’ll ever see, and how we can capitalize on such a unique and historical opportunity.

I look for a change in sentiment that precedes the change in trend. Moments of "lag" in sentiment can provide superb entry points into special situations at a discount; and obversely, manic enthusiasm can provide an opportunity to go short.
I research the fundamentals, know what I am getting into, and go long or short accordingly. Technical studies of the market are also an active part of my trading. I have invested for 22 years.

I am Swiss and living in Zurich. I studied Microtechnics at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and Business Administration at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. After the studies in 1989 I founded Labocontrol AG. This company was sold to the US company Digital Now Inc. where I continued to work as a chief scientist.
Since 13 years I have my own software company Colour-Science.com which develops algorithms for digital image processing. These algorithms do things like image enhancement, red eye removal or pattern (face) detection. My passion however was always to search for pattern in financial data and then develop and back test rule based investment strategies.
With a couple of decades of experience as an option market maker and institutional floor broker on the trading floor, I have some opinions (not always right). I do have a decent grasp of options and market mechanics. I have lectured and consulted for exchanges, the SEC, universities, and private investment funds as well as taught courses in the financial field.
Working for a financial software company takes a good part of my time (Silexx Financial Systems, a financial software company that designed the trading/risk management platform, Obsidian, is a vendor-neutral stock, equity and option trading platform.)
The bulk of my time is managing partner of Kinetic Investment Group - a private investment firm. We have a great team of guys/gals and the products we are working on are exciting. www.kineticgrp.com
Of course there is a DAILY news letter I type up every morning before the sun comes up and email out.
Being neither a Democrat or Republican – I fall somewhere in the Austrian / Chicago School of Thought, some would even say more laissez faire. One of my favorite American historical figures is Thomas Paine. I like to believe that I try to measure up to Paine's quote: "The most formidable weapon against errors of every kind is Reason. I have never used any other, and I trust I never shall."

I was trained in finance, but work in strategy. I invest very infrequently, and balance my portfolio once a year. I buy and hold hold indices and volatility ETFs. I trade a little bit on the side, but that's pure gambling, for fun.
I am an independent trader. I began actively trading in 2008 and my perspective is shaped by the collapse of 2008 and the incredible rally of 2009. My approach consists of seeking out fundamentally strong stocks that are unloved by the market and then assessing general market conditions to manage risk.
Outside of the markets, I enjoy playing tennis, working out, and pushing myself to conquer my fear of public speaking.
Writer and investor with an interest in most everything -- stocks, ETFs, commodities, and currencies. My background is in both economics and journalism so I try to present complex ideas clearly and concisely, but with a dash of creativity.
Hi, I am Ong Kang Wei, a Singaporean investor intrigued by the stock market and anything related to business, finance and economics. I love observing the stock market in my free time, and I especially favor dividend-paying aristocrats offering products/services people need such as P&G, Kinder Morgan, Wal-Mart, among many others. I also love high quality stocks or mispriced stock opportunities that will be able to reward shareholders. Of course, I can only come to such a conclusion through extensive fundamental research and analysis. I am still in the process of learning how to analyse stocks more perfectly, and I must say that I have learnt a lot so far on Seeking Alpha. People whom I admire include Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch, Charlie Munger, Philip Fisher and Benjamin Graham. I try to learn about these famous people and find out what made them successful. I also regard established people in the financial industry very highly, and always try to learn from them through their writing. This group of people would include Professor Aswath Damodaran, many of the other knowledgeable CFAs and also Seeking Alpha writers. Though I try my best to keep writing on Seeking Alpha, I may stop writing at times due to study obligations.
