Have We Forgotten That Savings Is a Good Thing? [View article]
While I agree with your sentiment, the savings rate is somewhat of a flawed measurement. The "savings rate" does not include money invested in businesses and other capital. For example, Bill Gates probably has a very low savings rate.
I enjoy your articles. BUT...Wait for it...Here it comes...Sorry, but this one was a trifle on the insignificant and benign side. And please...comparing to a worthless, outdated price-weighted average like the Dow...
Just the usual mindless partisan malarkey here. Thus far, in my estimation, this is truly an election where we are picking the lesser of evils. I am actually considering voting for Palin because it was irritate the snobbish elite who like to judge people based upon their shallow worldviews. And that scares me!
While I could not care less what is in Palin's portfolio, I would venture to say that hers is doing as well, if not better than most of ours!
"Oh, and one other thing: no, Goldman Sachs is not an acceptable acquirer for Morgan Stanley. It needs to be a big commercial bank with a solid deposit base."
Wow, almost the same thing Jim Cramer said...I believe the author is now shilling for Jim.
I'm not here to defend Cramer, but you appear to just be a hater. First, I don't believe the guy who claims to have made money by doing opposite of his recs. I have seen a lot of services priced at $1,200 to $5,000 who have no better record. I like his show, but that doesn't mean I buy every stock he highlights on his show. You do no better job of attacking his position on AIG than he did of selling it.
I have no problem with people bashing the so-called gurus, but you should at least bring something to the table
YTD his AAPlus Portfolio is down about 20 percent vs the S&P500 which is down about 16 percent. Considering the restrictions on his trading and the fact that he does not short, use options or leverage in the portfolio, that is respectable, given the market.
I don't believe in the conspiracy theories per say, but I agree with him on the lack of enforcement by SEC on the failure of short-sellers to do a locate first.
Just my 2 cents. No, I have not drank the Kool Aid, but bring something to the table...
The (Abandoned) Uptick Rule and Blaming the Shorts [View article]
You are all a bunch of whiners. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I've never shorted a stock and never bought a put, but it is a legitimate trading tool. If company's stock is really being "unfairly" hurt by shorts, the answer is easy...buy back stock and/or increase your dividend. Don't blame CALM's issues on the shorts, decreasing margins are the problem, not the shorters.
