  • Apple's Tax Bill Is About To Get Much, Much Bigger  [View article]
The author is obviously not a tax lawyer. The matter is much more complicated and the out come much more cloudy than he portrays. It is far from a sure thing that this "game" wil end.

Your future growth projection are assuming no new products. That is very conservative (pessimistic).

  • What Was Tim Cook Thinking? An Analysis Of Beats Electronics  [View article]
Few buyers of head phones are audiophiles. So their ratings mean little in the real world of selling high priced head phones. People pay for many high priced items that are not nearly as "good" as some competitors all the time. There is a difference in actual abstract value and in perceived value to the consumer. That is what much of marketing is all about. To many of our young, near young and want to be young being "seen" in the "right" way is worth the price. To many "Beats" is the right way. I just gave my granddaughter here birthday present in cash. She immediately went out an purchased Beats head phones. Why? She told me Beats is where it is at among the young and they have money to spend.

  • Stumbling Apple Ramps Up China App Store  [View article]
To call the cheap Xiaomi phone a "smart phone" that competes with the iPhone is a real stretch. Unfortunately there is no accepted definition of what a real smart phone is.

Aurthor mention dry-gas recovery as compared to fracking as the preferred methods but never got into it in depth and cost comparison. Needs to explain in depth not just throw out as a solution.

The author should look into the actual transaction that MU entered into when they bought Elpida. Payment was to be in years in yen. Note the drop in the value of the yen sense the deal was made.

  • Inventory Risks Loom For Apple  [View article]
The author missed an important point noted by Apple. Although inventory levels rose they were not as high as management desired. That generally means a supply/sales imbalance from the supply side. They cannot make enough of them. Supply problems, of course, are generally easier to correct than sales. I believe Apple management thought they managed the quarter very well and were surprised in the market reaction. The market has a fixation on units sold and ASP. The market wants both to go only up. That, of course, is virtually impossible.

EPS in line. Beats on Revenue. Ups guidance. Stock down over 3 points. Makes a lot of sense. Momentum players jumping off.

The Apple 5s is destroying the Samsung Galaxy S4. The Samsung release of earnings all but admitted it. Even with Samsung discounts on the S4 they are losing sales and share in the premium market.

  • Apple Is Just 1 Year Away From Becoming A 'Boring' Dividend Income Stock  [View article]
Interesting article based upon assumption instead of fact. Unfortunately, for the author will probably be proved wrong as the facts unfold. Growth is not dead. Apple is not mature. It is moving ahead in ways the author does not seem to comprehend. Most mature people do not understand the transformation going on in the new world. Most authors do not really understand what Apple is and what it means to those ever increasing numbers in its eco-system.

Ford did not give an optimistic 2014 forecast as the author stated as "fact". In fact it was just the opposite and the shares of Ford sold off yesterday. If his statement on Ford is a result of his due diligence expertise the whole article is called In doubt.

  • Apple: It's Not About Icahn, It's About Growth  [View article]
Yes, but the author misses the point about Amazon. They grow top line but do not make a profit. You assume they will some day make a profit to justify the stock price. Why? I have used Amazon for years but I am now moving away when I have to pay sales tax. I moved a sizable order this week from Amazon to Overstock for that reason. Also as Amazon raises prices to make a profit many users will probably move else ware. Many if not most use Amazon based on price. The new one day delivery has a very limited appeal. I could care less about it.
