  • 3 Ways To Overcome Failure With Long-Term Investing [View article]
Hey Tim, happy to see your article today. Your thoughts, are so appreciated by this reader. You've got a very fine focus, and wonderfully practical sense. Wishing you success in school; when first encountering law school case readers, thought I'd had some sort of aneurism...."i'm sure its english, but...whaaaa?".

  • Blanket Fort Investing [View article]
Nicely said. Good dissection of the inherent divide between the avalanche of headlines, yadda yadda, is the need of the "news" outlets to market their sites, the analysts' need to preserve their points of view, versus my search for information relevant to my goals.

Now where's my card table and blankie? your reference brought back fond memories of hiding out and feeling oh sooooo secure.

  • Bank of America (BAC) efforts to help 60K homeowners slice a large chunk of principal of their mortgage balances are falling short of expectations as more than half haven't responded to mailings from the lender. Other large lenders are reporting far better success, suggesting some truth behind anecdotal reports of the difficulties of dealing with BofA.  [View news story]
When will these behemoth businesses set about to reap the benefit of treating people with respect, with personal attention. A Form Letter? Oh Please. What are they thinking? How about a personal phone call and an invitation to meet with bank officials in a place within the borrower's community? Assign one person a supportable list of borrowers, and have that person travel and maintain contact with, and oversee the files of, each borrower until the matter is resolved. Good Heavens, surely they have the resources for that? There is simply no excuse.

Surely it would be the best PR ever, because they have to have some return on their investment of time and energy. Well, that's fine too, I'm happy for the Bank to benefit from reasonable activity, since I'm long BAC.

Through the settlement, (albeit imposed) they have an opportunity to dispense with what has been the residual disconnect between big big businesses and what they perceived as "small" "small" individuals. For the sake of our economy and our humanity, a word to BAC, and all the others...."Get On With It....Stop Whining.....Connect in a personal manner with those who are, by virtue of your business decision to purchase CW, Your Customers ..." (Sigh)

  • As Netflix (NFLX) debuts its first original series and YouTube (GOOG) significantly expands its professional offerings, Amazon (AMZN) has apparently decided it wants in on the action: job postings (I, II) on the company's site indicate it's looking for creative execs to develop video content for Amazon Studios. The big question: when do such initiatives go from being mere nuisances to Hollywood studios to legitimate threats?  [View news story]
D-Virginia, indeed, you're right. Hollywood, so greedy, so intractable, has taken on the invincible, (freedom of expression and art in a new technological field) So no one needs their fingers in the pie any longer. Its downfall is inevitable.and deserved; unless it does something radically different. And that's unlikely isn't it?.
