  • Apple Hits $400: Is Now The Time For Dividend Growth Investors To Get In? [View article]
well, for every other company we have to do the same as even predictions are based on information coming from the past and present which quickly becomes past as we move into the future... not sure what else can we do.

now for apple predictions seem all to point to a relatively quick demise while for samsung and google everyone is positive all will be bright and easy. it may be true. but for one google pays no dividend and its multiples start to cause vertigo... if apple did not pay a dividend they would be all up in arms against them... i wonder why.

  • Apple Hits $400: Is Now The Time For Dividend Growth Investors To Get In? [View article]
    it is this easy:

say that the market cap is 400 B (in reality it is 375 now)

byy bying back 60B stock market cap will fall at same price to 340.

minus 100B cash (145-borrowings needed for buyback)

we have a value of 240B implied by a market cap of 400B.

now since we are not at 400B but at 375, it means current price sees the value of apple at about 220B which is supported at 15 PE by a earnings of about 15B/year or about 4B/Q. which means even in the event earnings more than halved from current levels the company would be just fairly valued. also the assumption is that the company stops accruing more cash (zero cash added in the process).

so, if earnings remained constant and cash flow also constant, the stock may possibly double its value and return 30B in dividends to shareholders.

it seems quite a good reason to enter at these levels if you hear me.

  • Apple's Upcoming Products - Is It Time To Buy? [View article]
one thing is changing opinion on a stock when factual data have happned. one thing is first stating that the company is doomed only then to turn 180 degrees around and say the company has upside potential...

all while nothing had happened in the first place to state the company was doomed ...actually all what one could see was one hundred billion returned to market...and continued profitability and cash generation underpinning it. And nothing has happened since to claim the company is a star again... i would then suspect the author is more interested in influencing thought processes one way or another than to really provide a positive contribution. in any case i agree there is upside in the second half of this year.

  • Apple: Buybacks, Margins, Valuations, Oh My! [View article]
not sure they will want to spread out the buyback too much... at 12M shares per quaters as you said...

most likely they match the bond issues with the amount n dollrs they buys in shares pretty much immediately.... otherwise they would just have these bonds on the books and add evenmore cash to hold idle... makes no sense whatsoever.

  • Apple Share Buyback - The Numbers Talk [View article]
the concpets in this article are know to everybody and the article keeps being wrong

"If the buyback had taken place with an average purchase price of $435, then the EPS for the year would have jumped to $7.15 and the PE ratio fallen to 8.83."

    should read

"If the buyback had taken place with an average purchase price of $435, then the EPS for the year would have jumped BY $7.15 and the PE ratio fallen to 8.83."

Not sure how this article made it to be published, really.

  • Danger Zone For This Week: Apple [View article]
the real question is... why on earth did you ever hold a position in apple at prices above 500... what you said in this article was known two years ago, one year ago... if a company cannot sustain profits. shares decline... now you can go and apply for your nobel prize...

  • Apple's Rally Is The Child Of A Deluded Wall Street [View article]

  • Apple's Rally Is The Child Of A Deluded Wall Street [View article]
the stock had to jump onnthe news of buyback as folks want to sell the stock to apple at the fair price to them.... believe me, there is nothing like a massive buyback to fairly price a stock. so, here is where we are now. the price is about to be fair.

  • Is Apple Worth More Dead Than Alive? [View article]
the problem with companies of the market capitalization of apple is that to sustain a price like say 700$ it needs to capture about 700B $ of wealth into its shares. It is a daunting task to ask savers all over the globe to sit tight on 700B $ of apple shares really... some are inevitably tempted to sell at thsoe prices so placing a formidable resistance to growth of its price, also considering the risk reward at those prices would be not putting an investor in a relaxed mood.

So. I can see apple going up a bit from here and then have ups and downs of various magnitude... but we cannot frankly expect seeing P/E = 15 that easily of this monster stock simply because it would require consensus of a lot of folks to keep the price at those levels.... and if it goes there by all mean I would sell (despite being long now)

  • The Risky Truth About Apple's Dividend [View article]
Can apple pay back the bonds at maturity using foreign cash? if so this is really a good scheme to avoid tax on all of the foreign cash held... and would make the taxman in USA look like a sucker.

  • Apple: Dividend Growth Investor's Dream? [View article]
to me apple is not after screen sizes ... it is not doing anything clever to add one inch to a screen... this is stuff for koreans or chinese.... they need to shock people with their products, make them feel to be in front of somthing awesome and new... so i am confident the next big thing will be something different, not a bigger screen... even the iphone will change... not really be just a bigger iphone....

  • Apple's Shareholder Program: The Day The Music Died [View article]
having worked in companies in technology area i have conclude that more research and development spend often means not more ideas and better product, rather more empire building and internal infighting. i would love apple to remain nimble and invent something new every couple of years....

the article was no good though. the apple announced buyback is a masterpiece and will go down in the annals of finance as one of the best ever decisions by management. the assumption by the author that a buyback signals running out of ideas seems a bit odd.

vertu has a gross margin which is probably higher than apple and black berry... so the author would imply vertu is more promising than apple...
