  • Short Corn On Overblown Drought Panic [View article]
The first lesson I was taught about investing:

"Never ask a silk seller about the price of a gem."

What does that mean? If a person isn't an expert about a specific topic, don't listen to them. So I have to ask you a couple things. Do you live in the midwest where the drought has hit farmers hard? Have you even been to the midwest to see the acres and acres of dead corn? Also, what is your degree in so that I can get a rough estimate on your knowledge of climate and weather. This will help me to determine if your skills of climate and weather forecasting are to be believed or if you are just guessing/hoping for and end of the drought.

  • 2 Cable TV Stocks To Avoid, 1 To Consider [View article]
Can't wait for the day when, instead of subscribing to a $100+ "250 channels that I'll never watch" cable deal, I'll be able to go online to ESPN and subscribe to streaming ESPN for $4 a month.

  • CVS, Walgreen Can Close 20% Discount By Acquiring Rite Aid [View article]
Let Rite Aid go bankrupt and buy the best assets. Or just buy the best assets from them now. Maybe they will be profitable soon, but they also have that mountain of debt to deal with. I don't want my money (as a Walgreen's investor) to pay for Rite Aid's mistakes.

Rite Aid = Bad Investment for Wal Mart or CVS.

  • Get Ready For A Rite Aid Takeover [View article]
Ugh. As a Walgreen's investor, I hope they don't buy Rite Aid. Rite Aid hasn't made money in years and is buried in debt. That would be a bad decision by Walgreen's management to buy that company. There's no upside to it.

  • Dear Mr. Chipotle Mexican Grill... [View article]
I watch Chipotle as well, waiting/hoping for a nice pullback. At some point they will have 0.5% same-store sales growth or some silly little result that will make everyone realize that they can't grow forever and then people won't pay 61x earnings for the stock anymore.

  • Don't Straitjacket My Dividend Growth Strategy [View article]
This is a great strategy especially for a tax free or a tax differed account. I try to explain this to people and they don't think long term enough. It's not the 3% that the company pays now, it's the 50-100% that the company pays (on your principle) in 20-30 years.
