  • Cisco Stock May Still Lead To Massive Profits [View article]
2013 revenues are up YOY (infact up every year since 2009)

Dividend is $.17/quarter ($.68/year), which based on a $21 share price would be 3%+ yield

    Are you sure you're reading Cisco's 10k ?

What are you basing your information on? They've reduce their outstanding share count, net of options, by over 25% since 2002.

  • The Microsoft Surface Pro Launch Debacle Proves It's Time For Steve Ballmer To Go [View article]
Ballmer was given Microsoft as a powerhouse and he hasn't done much other than steer the ship clear of icebergs.

He watched a company that had 90%+ OS market share of internet connected devices to less than 30%. Now he finally "gets" it but Microsoft will have to fight tooth and nail against established players just to stay relevant when they could have, and arguably should have, been innovators and created the market themselves. Too much to expect from Steve, as it's not really his MO.

I never said it wasn't Microsoft's fault, just that you don't understand how the supply chain / retail management systems work based on your comments. Probably best to learn how to read before you learn how to invest.

It's not about having intimate details about relationship between Microsoft and Staples/Best Buy. It's called understanding how the supply chain works and how retail works. Which clearly you don't. This isn't your local corner store which waits until it runs out of Doritos to order more, things are a lot more complicated.

  • GT Advanced Technologies; If It's Worth Anything, It's Not $3 A Share [View article]
Yes, they do. They also start building up WIP/costs for projects where customers go bankrupt and cancel the order--forfeiting the deposit. GTAT has to write off any costs or materials purchased for these orders.

GTAT can't be expected to collect the full amount of their costs as a prepaid, that is ridiculous.

So how does his incompetence compare to Jim "I want to buy a hockey team" Balsillie and Mike "Battery life is more important than functionality" Lazaridis?

Completely agree with this. I know a lot of people who still have company supplied blackberries, however every single one of them has an iphone or android phone for regular use. Blackberry is for work email, nothing more.

  • 2 Mattresses For The Price Of 1? How Tempur-Pedic Gets To $50 [View article]
Thanks--I personally believe the reason the share price for TPX doesn't reflect Sealy is because Sealy actually doesn't have any equity on a book value basis--it's equity value is zero. It's price is based on assumption that it can return to profitability.

Also an option implies it is your option, but whether the deal goes through is not up to the investor.

  • This Could Be Huge: China Mobile To Subsidize Lumia 920 [View article]
It has nothing to do with Chinese government backing, more to do with China Mobile's proprietary cellular network.

China Telecom and Unicom are also major state-owned entities and they are offering Iphones with subsidies, so by your logic Apple will also have guaranteed success in China...

It's actually enterprise value that remains constant, not per share. (reduced share count, but you can't increase EV through buybacks)

  • The Great Misconception: Tempur-Pedic [View article]
However what your analysis clearly shows is that the acquisition is highly dilutive to EPS unless Sealy's numbers REALLY pick up
