  • Apple: Setback In Education Presents A Cloud Opportunity [View article]
My father has a macbook pro. He only used it for email and reading papers online. It was heavy and I got him an iPad air. He didn't use it so much because typing email was a pain on it, so I got him a Chromebook 2 13".
He loves the Chromebook, it perfectly fits his needs and it's much lighter and thinner than the macbook with cd drive etc. He likes the Chromebook 2.
Sure he could have tried a Macbook Air I suppose but the Chromebook was a successful experiment.
I told him he saved $600 over the Macbook Air and he was more pleased than before. Go figure.

  • Apple: The $200 Billion Question [View article]
I'm an Apple fanboy and shareholder, it's the one stock I own outside of mutual funds. I've liked the computers since the Mac.
I think the Apple brand is very powerful now, and they have the public's confidence. Only an Apple Genius can help you in person with a problem (try it with your android tablet from Walmart) and this appeals to many technophobes.
I own several Macs but I prefer Android on my phone, it's just my preference. I have used both and the Apple phone hardware is gorgeous, I have an iPhone 5 that's a peach to hold. I also have an Android tablet, but I set up my father's iPad air which is a beautiful gadget. He would only use a non-Apple product if I chose it and set him up with it.
The fingerprint sensor will have uses soon that translate to more Apple profits. It will be the perfect password killer. Someday you won't carry a wallet and Apple will skim 1%+ of a lot of commerce, and it will go to their bottom line.
Apple is slowing down because the worldwide economy has been slowing since 2008, but it has a very bright future.

  • Apple Set For Strong Sales Of iPhone 6 In Just A Few Weeks - But Is It Too Little, Too Late? [View article]
The unrest around the world is poverty affecting young men who are full of testosterone and no way to make a living.

There is enough natural gas under our feet to run all our trucks, cars, and buses for 200 years.

We can stop sending $500 billion to despots and our enemies and keep it all here. Let the Europeans deal with them.

  • Apple Set For Strong Sales Of iPhone 6 In Just A Few Weeks - But Is It Too Little, Too Late? [View article]
I prefer Android on my tablet to the iPad air I got my father last week. I also don't own iPhone but rather Motorola Moto X because I prefer low cost and no contracts.

BUT, last Sunday in a mall near Palm Beach FL the Apple store was MOBBED with people, it was amazing.

Apple is an earnings juggernaut and this is not likely to change soon.

Maybe someday we'll run out of oil and gas and Exxon and Chevron will be bad investments too. We won't live long enough to see it however.

  • Apple's Q3 Risks Are To The Downside [View article]
If Apple has "downside risk", I can handle it. If Apple shares fall a little my dividend buys me more shares of AAPL. I like the idea.

It's called compounding dividends, try it sometime.

The Apple iPhone 4S is about $700 in Mexico, go to Telcel and see it.

If you think iPhones are losing popularity you 1. don't know any women 2. don't know any yuppies 3. don't know any old people

When I heard about Apple and IBM I thought that somehow Siri would be connected with Watson at IBM.

Oh man if Apple really someday leverages it's power and wealth to go after Google's core business, i.e. search, look out.

  • Now It's Really Time For Apple To Buy BlackBerry [View article]
I wonder if someday Apple will try to buy some Blackberry patents instead?

The Z30 phone reminds me of the Motorola Moto X=$300 Republic wireless.

I have noticed that people are infatuated with their iPhones and as Apple keeps improving their specs, more people stay more loyal to the brand.

I have no such loyalty regarding phones and tablets, of course my computers are Macs, I'm not a masochist nor crazy.

  • Apple Knows How To Deliver Against Google And Microsoft Into Earnings [View article]
What we do know and what is proven by recent history is that Microsoft is totally inept in consumer products. This is logical since they have been copycats forever.
Zune, Windows phone, Surface, Windows 8 are failures.
Interestingly, Windows 8 is the first time Microsoft did not copy Apple's desktop and how does the consumer like it? He hates it.
So, let's be clear: microsoft is vulnerable to Apple now more than ever, since Apple pairing with IBM can chip away at microsoft growth in the business sector.
Keep Apple and forget microsoft, have your dividends AND have capital growth as the shares keep rising.
Re: Amazon phone. This is a no threat to Apple iPhone in any way. It's irrelevant and so is Amazon actually. Sell it if you own it.
"iWatch sales may disappoint" What does this mean? Will I be disappointed if they only sell 10 million of them before Christmas instead of 20 million? I don't get it.

  • Will Apple Earnings Gain From Samsung's Pain? [View article]
Re: iPhone v Samsung, iOS v Android.
Samsung's problem is that there are so many competitors offering a pretty good phone e.g. Motorola Moto X ($300) or Moto G ($150).

The users of Android phones seem to prefer to have the Android "straight" as in Google Android only without anything else added on.

I loved Mac computers since 1984 but as far as phones go, I'm not that picky. However, those people who have iPhones will never switch and will upgrade continually.

Apple is going to keep making a fortune and iPhones will be a large part of the equation.

  • Algorithm Predicts An End To Apple's 12-Month Run [View article]
This is exactly the kind of dumb thinking that makes people lose money.

It matters not one bit how much math you can do, or computing power you have, you can NOT predict the events that will lead people to bid a stock up or down in the auction called the stock market.

A baby and an MIT Phd. in statistics will have the exact same skill predicting the flip of a coin, heads or tails.

These predictive equations also failed to see the danger of derivatives of sub-prime mortgages and look what happened?

Apple may or may not go up in price but you must ignore formulas that claim to predict the future behavior of markets.

  • Apple Needs To Succeed In BRIC Countries To Grow, But Its Chances Seem Slim [View article]
I doubt that the author has been to any BRICs or other countries to see how Apple is loved in all of them.

I have been to Russia and China, they love Apple products there. I have been to Mexico and Apple products are loved there also. Of course, not everyone can pay the huge cost of Apple iPhones down there, but some manage.

For example, there is a huge market for "unlocked ATT iPhones" which are then sold worldwide because they are GSM and take sim cards from whatever place you choose.

The author might have learned this if he ever left the igloo and actually saw what people are doing around the world. This is sometimes called "market research" and smart companies PAY for it, but you can also do it all yourself if you like.

I was in the International Terminal of San Francisco Airport the other day and what were people holding? iPads and iPhones were all over. Sure, the poor people from foreign countries can't afford to travel to the USA, but there are hundreds of millions of people in the BRICS who are NOT poor. They'll buy Apple.

China we know loves Apple. Russia also, and I remember a comical encounter in Moscow one evening with a Russian. He wanted to talk to me: "I love American hockey! I love your American jacket! I love Levi Strauss American blue jeans!" I am entirely certain he also loves Apple products if he can someday afford them.
